The 3rd WeGO General Assembly
The 3rd WeGO General Assembly was successfully held from November 3-6, 2014 in Chengdu, China. With the theme of "Engaging Citizens: Open, Sharing, and Collaborative Cities", delegates from over 63 cities and organizations worldwide took part in workshops, masterclasses, matchmaking meetings, and tours. WeGO Signs MOU with Seoul National University ITPP and Launches Joint Research Project
On December 23, 2014, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between WeGO and the International IT Policy Program (ITPP) of Seoul National University, Korea's top academic institution. ITPP is an international education program with the aim to establish a global platform of next-generation ICT policy experts from around the world. Click here for more information on the event.
As the first collaborative step under the MOU, WeGO and ITPP held a kick-off workshop for the joint 2015 research project on "Emerging Trends in Open Data for Smart Cities" on March 20, 2015. For more information on the WeGO-ITPP research project on Open Data, please click here.

Joint WeGO-Yonsei Inception Workshop on Civic Participation Systems
On March 19, 2015, WeGO hosted its first inception workshop on Civic Participation Systems (CPS) as part of the Cities and Socio-Technical Systems (STS) course of Yonsei University's Department of Urban Planning and Engineering. Mr Hakjin "Frederick" Lim, WeGO Advisor, presented on the topic of "Cities and Socio-Technical Systems", which explained how IT can be used as a tool to promote citizens' active feedback, which is critical in improving city management and developing city policy. WeGO Attends 2014 UNPOG Roundtable Meeting on Promoting Good Governance
On December 4, 2014, WeGO participated in the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) Roundtable Meeting at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul. The Head of UNPOG, Mr. Jae-hong Lim, highlighted UNPOG’s institutionalized cooperation with WeGO, especially with respect to co-organizing special e-Government track sessions during the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity in 2015. Secretary General Kim Presents at the 4th Moscow Urban Forum
The Moscow Urban Forum is annually run under the auspices of the Moscow Government. This year's forum, held from December 11-14, 2014, included an IT-focused conference for the first time, demonstrating the increasing relevance of technology's role in sustainable urban development. WeGO's Secretary General Kim shared Seoul Metropolitan Government's m-Voting practice and IoT projects to over 3,000 attendees.

WeGO Holds e-Government Webinar on the CeDS Toolkit with the World Bank
WeGO led a webinar on the use of WeGO's City e-Government Diagnostic and Solution (CeDS) Online Platform on December 16, 2014 in the World Bank's Smart Cities Webinar Series. The discussion was spearheaded by Mr. Frederick Lim, WeGO Advisor. Mr. Lim is one of the developers of the CeDS, which helps cities identify the maturity level of their e-Government systems and formulate ways to further improve them. National Information Center, Sudan is now a WeGO Friendship Member!
WeGO is pleased to welcome its first Friendship Member, The National Information Center in Sudan! The WeGO General Assembly established the new Friendship Member category in 2014 for 1. any national/ regional association of local governments and 2. any government agency/ entity that is directly concerned with local e-Government issues, in recognition that they can contribute significantly to WeGO's mission to pursue sustainable urban development through e-Government.

International IT Conference Stachka!
April 10-11, 2015
Stachka! (The Strike!), the largest IT conference in Russia, will be held from April 10-11 at the Lenin Memorial in Ulyanovsk Region. It is estimated to bring together 4,000 IT experts, CIOs, business community representatives, and students from all over the world to discuss major areas of IT, such as digital communication, IT management, IT and government relations, mobile development, e-Commerce, among others. Senior Administrative Officer: Mr. Luis Kim
Luis Kim has worked with the Korean Government since 2007. He has managed administrative affairs at the Nowon City Office and the Seoul City Hall Culture and Arts Department. He most recently supervised a project to improve the theater environment in Seoul, where new partnerships were identified, city-plans were collected, a unified ticketing system was launched, and funding for the performing arts was reinforced.

Program Officer: Mr. Earl Burgos
Earl is a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines and has extensive and varied marketing, communications, and website management experience. At home in the Philippines, Earl started his own online clothing business, hosted a variety of shows for a well-known music channel, and served as an intern for the Korean Cultural Center in Manila. Earl is looking forward to reaching out to WeGO member cities both on- and offline.

Program Officer: Ms. Alexandra Sidorova
Prior to joining WeGO, Alexandra worked in the International Relations Development Department at Yakutsk City Administration, the third largest city in the Russian Far East. For two years and a half, she focused on reviving closer cooperation with sister cities abroad and local governments within the country, implementing various projects and organizing exchanges for better public service in Yakutsk, and promoting the positive image of the region in the international community.

Administrative Officer: Ms. April Jang
April Jang has worked for Seoul Metropolitan Government's Cultural Policy Division since 2009. In her first two years, she worked on building cultural facilities, like concert halls, and thereafter, was in charge of the Division's budget.
