ARTHUR HARDY MARDI GRAS PARTY (SEE WHAT WE DID THERE?)  Saturday, January 24

2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

We are kicking off Carnival season with Mr. Mardi Gras himself! Join us on Saturday, Jan. 24 from 2-4 PM as Arthur Hardy talks about Mardi Gras and signs the new edition of Mardi Gras in New Orleans: An Illustrated History and the new 2015 Mardi Gras Guide. To get everyone into the Carnival spirit, we'll be playing Mardi Gras music, throwing beads, eating Randazzo's king cake, and drinking local French Truck coffee. We're also throwing some wine in from our neighbors, Pearl Wine Co. King cake, coffee, and wine are free until it runs out. Come have fun with us! Masks and costumes are encouraged. Come in costume (any costume) and get 10% off your purchase!

  Wednesday, February 4

7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

On November 5, 2013, owner of Tubby & Coo's, Candice Huber, launched a reading series called Reading Between the Wines at Pearl Wine Co. in Mid-City as part of Fleur de Lit, Candice's literary events website. For the first year, Candice was happy and proud to partner with Maple Street Book Shop for book selling at the events. Beginning with the first event this year on Feb. 4, 2015, Tubby & Coo's will be taking over as the book seller.

Reading Between the Wines is a laid back, salon-type environment where we drink wine, eat cheese, and talk to local authors about their books. The event takes place on the first Wednesday evening of every month at Pearl Wine Co. inside of the American Can Company from 7:00-8:00 PM. Pearl offers wines by the glass for $5, and we offer lively conversation with amazing authors and great reads.

Come and join us for our 2015 kickoff event on Wednesday, Feb. 4 with authors Bill Loehfelm, Morgan Molthrop, and Tom Cooper. Click here for more info on the authors and their books.

Reading Between the Wines in Partnership with Pearl Wine Co.

Reading Between the Wines is a monthly event in partnership with Pearl Wine Co. that owner Candice Huber established in November 2013. The event brings local authors to Mid-City to discuss their books, typically surrounding a common theme. For the first year, Maple Street Book Shop was kind enough to be the bookseller at this event. At the end of 2014, we made the decision together that Tubby & Coo's would take over. The event takes place at Pearl Wine Co., right down Orleans Ave. from Tubby & Coo's inside of the American Can Company, on the first Wednesday of the month from 7-8 PM.

Check out the authors for our upcoming events on Wednesday, Feb. 4 and Wednesday, March 4!

Stay Tuned for More!

We're planning additional programs, events, and regular in-store meeting groups, forging new partnerships, and exploring new lines of merchandise to carry. We're super excited about our first full year in business!
We wanted to also remind you of the things currently happening in the store, as we have some great regular events and discounts you can already take advantage of.

Sunday Board Game Night

Every Sunday at 6:00 PM, we play board games in the shop! Bring your own games or just bring yourself and play with others. We offer snacks and drinks for $1 and terrific company. We play games such as Sheriff of Nottingham, Pandemic, The Resistance, Coup, Betrayal at the House on the Hill, Splendor, Kittens in a Blender, and many others. We've been asked if it's weird for someone to come alone, and it certainly isn't. Come by yourself or bring friends, and all ages are welcome. Hope to see you there!

Regular Discounts for Teachers, Students, Military, and Others

We offer regular discounts to the following individuals with ID:

Teachers & Students - 10% Off
Active, Inactive, or Former Military - 15% Off

If you're a cosplayer or just someone who likes to wear costumes, come dressed up to the shop and get 10% off! You must be in a costume to receive the discount.

Are you a local author with a book on our shelves? If so, we'll give you a 10% discount.

We Have a Frequent Buyer Program

If you're added to our database, you will receive $10 off for every $100 you spend. You don't even need to give us a phone number or e-mail address. We only need your name. You can even give us a fake name if you wish, as long as you remember it when you come in. If you're reading this, you're already in the database, but tell your friends!
