Hi Moms and Dads

A very warm welcome to Fish Hoek Pre-Primary for 2015. It is wonderful to be back at school seeing all our children again and meeting our new children and their parents. We hope this year will be all you hoped and dreamed it would be. And we are sure your stay with us will be a happy one.
This newsletter will be emailed every Monday, but if you need a hard copy please let Jane know in the office and she will put one in your child's message pocket. Each child has a message pocket outside their classroom. Chat to your child's teacher and she will show you where your pocket is situated. An enlarged version of the newsletter will also be put up outside your child’s classroom.
Please read these Monday Newsletters each week as all the relevant information about the school, your children's classroom activities and the functions at the school will be written in it. This newsletter is a very important form of communication.
Our functions and activities have been written up in the section 'Dates to diarise.' Please have a read. More information on these events will follow shortly, to explain them more fully.

GATE SECURITY SYSTEM

For your child’s safety, please note that we have a gate security system. It will take a few weeks to implement as it involves a fingerprint entrance device and we ask for your time and patience. Each new parent will need to have their fingerprint registered into the system, as well as any grandparents who frequently fetch the children. Jane will also have a control device, to let in visitors. We will need a few minutes of your time in the morning to register you onto the system, but will need to do it over a few weeks. More information will follow once all the names have been loaded onto the system. Please watch this space! In the meantime please use the bell, a button on the left hand side, in the little box at the gate. Cards will be issued to those whose fingerprints do not register properly.

HATS AND SUN CREAM

Please don’t forget sun cream and hats for your children each day!!!! Sun cream needs to be applied at home each morning. Ingrid who is in charge of Stay and Play( aftercare) will put cream on the children for the afternoon.

The Stationary fee of R500 is also now due. Included in this price is a class t’shirt for your child. School hats are R50 each.

FOOD FOR A FRIEND

Donations to Rainbow Educare
Each week we collect fruit and sandwiches and take them to Rainbow Educare to distribute among the children there. We take the food to them on a Thursday morning.
Rainbow Educare is a creche in Masiphumelele with about 50 children ranging from 3 months to 5 years old. We have developed a friendship with them and help them with their educational program, stationary and toys and their up keep of their building and garden..
Please bring an extra fruit or sandwich and put it in the Mandela box, situated at the door, outside the office, on a Thursday morning.
Thank you!

Angelfish

Hello!! Hope everyone had a lovely sunny weekend. Please check your child’s message pockets for notices as well as the Angelfish class door. Please feel free to ask me anything if you are unsure.
Tips for parents: Please encourage your child to speak about their day. Ask questions such as: ‘Who did you play with? What was your favourite part of the day? What did you have for lunch?
Even if you know the answer, pretend not to!!!!
Have an awesome week!

Penguins

A warm welcome to all the children in the Penguin class. For the next week we will be teaching  our Penguins their new routine. We will encourage them to make choices within boundaries.
To encourage choice making at home, give them opportunities to choose what to wear to school the next day.
During ring times we will talk about happy and sad feelings.
Have a great week everyone.

SPARE CLOTHES
Please remember to pack in some spare clothes for your child each day, particularly the younger ones. The children often need to change for various reasons and it becomes a little tricky when there is nothing for them to wear!!!
FACEBOOK
We love sharing pictures from the school day. Teachers only put photos up on Facebook once a week. Any parent who does not want their child’s photos to appear on Facebook should let their teacher know. www.facebook.com/fhpps.

And on that note...

Have a super week everyone. Please don't hesitate to chat to me or the teachers if you have any queries or concerns.
