Hiram College

Dear Hiram families,

Happy New Year! It is great to have students back on Hiram Hill, and I am pleased to say that in two short weeks on campus, we are all finding our routines as well.

To kick off the Spring 2015 semester, we welcomed everyone back to a Welcome Back Week full of events and activities. This included one of our Hiram traditions known as “traying.” Students used the trays from the old Dining Hall to sled down the hills of Hiram, and this year we actually had snow for the event!

Thanks to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Social Justice Warriors and the African American Students United organization, Hiram offered an assortment of programs and services last week to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Even though students are settling in for the semester, now is the time to start preparing for next year. If you need help preparing the FAFSA, which must be filed in order to receive financial aid for the 2015-2016 academic year, please consider joining us on Feb. 8, 2015, for College Goal Sunday. Financial aid professionals will be at more than 50 locations across the state of Ohio offering free help, and Hiram is one of them! Learn more about the Hiram event, or check out a location near you.

Stay warm, and for the Hiram families in warm climates, please send some warmth our way!

Sincerely,

Liz Okuma
Vice President & Dean of Students
