For the week of February 1, 2015

"MPC This Week"
is a weekly publication of
The Media Presbyterian Church.

Our vision is to be the spiritual foundation of a united and diverse Christian fellowship, committed to serving the Lord, to loving our neighbors and to actively supporting those in need in the broader community. To fulfill this vision, we are devoted to regular worship, prayer and discipleship.

Our normal Sunday morning worship services are at 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00.

Thank You…
Many thanks to everyone who attended our Congregational Meeting last Sunday and demonstrated your support (and your vote) for our new Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC). Participation was well in excess of  the required quorum, your questions were constructive, and the PNC was encouraged by your affirmation. For more information about this important meeting, you can read the minutes
here.

Thanks also to our dedicated Congregational Nominating Committee for the prayerful, thoughtful work that produced a terrific slate of nominees. They invited your input and gave careful attention to every suggestion. They considered a wide range of interests within the congregation, hoping that everyone would be able to identify with at least one member of the PNC and say, “I’m sure that person will speak for my concerns.” They sought diversity of opinions, ages, and areas of involvement. And above all else, they prayed for the guidance of God’s Holy Spirit.

A huge vote of thanks goes to Steve Beckley, Stephen Cavicchia, Charlene Chapman, Chris Davis, Renée Erickson, Rich Graham, Amy Hofstaedter, Dana Riker Jackson and Rob MacPherson. They are your PNC! In the coming months, they will be working tirelessly on your behalf, prayerfully seeking the right person – the person called by God – to be MPC’s next senior pastor.

Moving Forward…
Our Noah Team (the group that conducted our Mission Study) has been working overtime! They completed their primary task last fall by summarizing what they had learned from you at the gatherings they hosted during the summer. When their
report was approved by our Session and the Presbytery of Philadelphia in October, they could have walked away, celebrating a job well done. But instead, they were motivated to go beyond the call of duty, spending the next three months “translating” their report into a set of recommendations – a clear vision for MPC’s future, and a roadmap for the journey ahead.

Next Saturday, February 8, our church officers (Session and Deacons) will gather at the Franciscan Spiritual Center in Aston to hear and discuss the Noah Team’s recommendations. Our newly-elected PNC will also be there so they can share the vision with pastoral candidates. Please pray for our leaders on February 8, and always, as they seek to discern God’s will for MPC. Your prayers and support are the lifeline of this vital congregation!

Faithfully,
