NBC: Bay Area Cities Top List of Nation's Richest Places to Live

California real estate is notoriously expensive, so it is no wonder the West Coast topped a list of the nation's richest cities. Residents in San Francisco, which was No. 1, need more than $124,000 a year to live "comfortably," USA Today estimates. Right behind San Francisco at No. 2 is San Jose, where to be comfortable, residents need to bring in about $115,000.
