Capital Asset Management Plan

All municipalities in Ontario are required by the Province to develop and maintain Asset Management Plans for the City's core municipal infrastructure. The municipal assets included in this requirement are in the following operational areas; water systems, bridges, roads and sewers, both sanitary and storm.

The City engaged Public Sector Digest to work with staff to complete the plan, which was presented at the February 10th meeting.

This Asset Management Plan (AMP) is a snapshot in time of the asset conditions. It will serve as a strategic, tactical and financial document, ensuring the management of the municipal infrastructure follows sound asset management practices and principles while optimizing available resources and establishing desired levels of service. It provides Council, staff and residents with an initial framework that can be used in successive years to guide reinvestment decisions into critical infrastructure replacement. Reliable and well-maintained infrastructure assets are essential for the delivery of critical core services for the citizens of Niagara Falls.
