Picture of Southwark Sharing
SUCCESS!

Monday 26th January saw over 300 Southwark children make their way to the Festival Hall Ballroom Floor, where they shared the work they had been doing in their whole class music lessons. Townsend, St Joseph's Gomm Road, Oliver Goldsmith, St Peter's, Cobourg, Goose Green and St James the Great all did a brilliant job performing on recorders, violins, ukuleles and brass instruments. Students from Globe Academy shared work from a songwriting project that they had done. The event finished with an enthusiastic performance of sixties classic 'I'm a Believer' lead by the staff band who had provided accompaniments for all the children's performances. We were very moved by the positive feedback we received from the general public who were clearly delighted by the children's enjoyment. Many thanks to our friends at Southbank for their support in making this event possible.

There will be a similar event for all our percussion players on Monday 2nd March at 5pm. Do come along and join the party!

Hub Member's Profile: London College of Contemporary Music

Founded in 2002, by Geoff Hemsley and Darius Khwaja, London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM) is an independent higher education institution for popular music. It attracts talented student musicians who intend to enter the music and related creative industries. The institution’s academic strategy focuses on the preparation of students for an unorthodox, competitive industry based on ideas, creativity and intellect.
The institution’s culture promotes innovation, artistry and initiative through the development of advanced knowledge. LCCM students develop first-class skills in a principle discipline combined with a detailed
understanding of harmony, orchestration and musical style set against a background of continuous technological change.

LCCM strives “to provide pre-professional musical training of the highest national and international standards; to produce solo artists, session players, bands, composers and producers who understand the art of music – its performance, theory, technology, history and context within human culture. LCCM aims to equip its graduates with the breadth of skills necessary for sustaining professional careers in today’s industry.”
