March Spotlight:
Amie Kelly
Meet Amie Kelly:
I’m the owner of Amie St.Jean Vacations. I have vacation rental houses, and now, after years of renovating, and decorating, I’m finally opening my Bed and Breakfast.

Born and raised in California, I never imagined living anywhere else, let alone in the tourist industry. After my husband passed, I came to the Black Hills to visit a good friend. On that visit, I decided to buy my first house, (which I call my snowbird house) and help her with her antique store. In time, I decided to sell my home in California and invest that money in other properties. Before I even sold that house, I found what is now my home/Bed and Breakfast. The house originally belonged to John C Haynes (as in Haynes Blvd.) then later became the convent for St. Teresa’s Church. I purchased the house from the Catholic Diocese.

Always being an entrepreneur, I saw great potential in the house and knew I could showcase my hobbies and talents converting it into a Bed and Breakfast. I’m a decorator, gardener and foodie, just to name a few of my many interests. Having a friend in the antique business allowed me to furnish the house accordingly. I enjoy people and am looking forward to entertaining them in my home. Eventually, I would like to include small events, such as receptions, showers, tea parties, etc.
February Spotlight:
Julie Janssen
Meet Julie Janssen:
As the designer and head sales consultant at Moda-Stone, I am available to help you beautify your home or office and make your dreams of an extravagant look come true, with affordable fashion for your home or office. Moda-Stone offers natural and engineered stone countertops fabricated in our shop and custom made to fit your project. Our goal is to provide quality stone countertops that are tailored to fit you and your home or office. Whether you are remodeling or building new, I am available to work with you and help you determine what would best fit the room you are working to beautify.

Moda-Stone is a Rausch company, formerly a part of the Rausch Brothers from eastern South Dakota. In the early 1960’s, the Rausch family moved to Rapid City and brought with them generations of granite experience. In the late 1990’s, Rausch Granite Products began fabricating stone countertops and in 2013, the name for the countertop side of the business was changed to Moda-Stone, creating less confusion to our customers since the other side of our business produces monuments under the name Rausch Monuments. Now four generations in the granite business and continuing to produce quality products that are expressly made to fit our customers’ needs.

Our showroom is located at 1116 Jackson Blvd. in Rapid City, where you can come by and browse our products as the first step in your beautification project. I am available by appointment and can be best reached on my cell at (605) 209-5377, or you can call our office at (605) 388-6114.

As far as the personal side of my life, I am married to my magnificent husband and we share 5 beautiful children and 6 adorable grandchildren. I currently attend college at CTU where I am continuing my business degree. In my spare time my husband and I spend every possible moment with each other and our family. We also love to travel the USA on our motorcycles!

The giant Sequoia trees in California are one of the wonders of creation.  These amazing trees are the giants of the forest, growing to be 300 feet tall with a diameter that exceeds 20 feet. They can live over 3,000 years and are even fire resistant. In fact, in the event of a fire the Sequoia cones pop-open distributing their seeds on the forest floor that has been fertilized by the ashes.

These trees can grow in just three feet of soil and withstand high winds. Their strength lies in the fact that their roots intertwine with the other Sequoias, providing mutual strength and shared resources.

Women’s Network of Rapid City is an organization that promotes and encourages women to grow personally, professionally and provides a comfortable environment to enhance your networking skills. Who are the Sequoia trees of Women’s network?  Our board members. Please consider becoming a board member and strengthen our roots.

If you would like more information about our board please contact any current or past board member. Brandy Alley will be announcing the open board positions at our next meeting.
