Are you looking for free, simple and fun ways to engage the residents you serve? How about using a famous song to start a discussion about love and marriage?
Remember the Beatles and their song “When I’m 64”? (Well if not, I’ve included a You Tube clip of it below that includes the lyrics so you can sing along!)
I’m pretty sure that most of the residents you serve are older than 64.
So why do I bring this particular song up?
Because the humorous lyrics of this song about love can be a great discussion starter. And it’s a fun way to encourage people to share their thoughts about how love changes over the years – from that first kiss all the way to growing old together. Free, simple and fun!
It’s just another way to use songs and music to bring people together.
By the way - this beautifully simple idea came from Beckie Karras’s book “Roses In December” which is available in the Elder Song catalog – see Mary Sue Recommends.
With a song in my heart,
Mary Sue
