Happy New Year 2015!
Supreme Council Library Receives Generous Book Bequest
 Our staff recently completed the first stage of cataloging a generous bequest of 529 pieces we acquired from the estate of Dr. Claude H. Harris, Jr., 33°. Among the collection are some 489 Masonic works—301 books, 186 periodicals, one facsimile, and one manuscript.
The next steps in the cataloging process include protecting and preserving damaged books in the collection and determining where most appropriately to place these materials in our library. For now, the entire collection resides the second floor of our main stacks.
Thanks to the generosity of members like Ill. Harris, our Masonic library continues to grow.  Claude Harrison Harris, Jr., was born June 6, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Provence, Aix-en-Provence, France, with a PhD in History, and is a published author in English and French. Ill. Harris served as Past Master of Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22, A.F.&A.M., and was a dual member of the Scottish Rite Valleys of Alexandria, Va., and Taipei, Taiwan.
The Scottish Rite Journal's "New Age"
 With the new year comes a new format for the Scottish Rite Journal. This time it’s handheld, as the Journal proudly rolls out publication on all major mobile platforms: Amazon, Google Play, and iTunes Newsstand. This means that you now can have the Journal instantly delivered directly to your portable device—like tablets and smartphones—as soon as it is published and wherever you are!
While Scottish Rite members and print Journal subscribers still will be able to open their mailboxes every two months to find the latest news and notes from around the Scottish Rite, they now have the additional option of reading the Scottish Rite's flagship publication on their portable internet device—in a format designed specifically for it.
To use the new Journal app:
- Search for “Scottish Rite†in the Apple iTunes App Store, the Google Play Store, or on the Amazon Fire App Store, depending on your mobile device.
- Download the app.
- When prompted, agree to subscribe—it is free.
- New issues will be auto-delivered to you when published.

4th Annual Celebrating the Craft Web Event
 Join us on May 16, 2015, for the fourth annual Celebrating the Craft (CTC) web event. You can join us here at the House of the Temple in Washington, D.C., for the LIVE show or you can watch online at ScottishRite.org from 6:00 pm EDT until Midnight. Music, magic, comedy, celebrities, never-before-seen video content from the House of the Temple and Valleys across the country, and so much more will be included in the webcast.
For the past four years, members from across the world have pledged their time and resources to the House of the Temple’s Rebuilding the Temple Campaign. This year our goal is 100% participation—our hope is every Brother, Valley, and Orient, will join us in support of our Rebuilding the Temple Campaign by participating in CTC.
Scottish Rite Has Talent!
 Scottish Rite Has Talent is a program that supports our annual Celebrating the Craft (CTC) web event. Brethren from across the world have the opportunity to submit videos of their talent. Eighteen talented entry winners will be invited to perform live during CTC on May 16, 2015, in Washington, D.C. Lodging and meals will be provided from May 14-17. Winners will be responsible for their transportation to D.C.
