Cultivating a Servant's Heart on CREW
Darko came to us from the city of Split because he wanted to serve behind the scenes at camp. Why? Simply, he desired to live out his faith in Christ by joyfully serving others. His experience at the DPB House gave him an opportunity to cultivate this passion, which is so often not seen in today’s youth.
As one parent shared with us recently after watching the CREW members in action, “It is so rare that you find young people like this who are so responsible and desire to serve.â€
Over the past four years, God has used CREW as a training ground for teenagers like Darko to cultivate a servant’s heart. We asked him if he would share his story with you so here it is:
Crew is an amazing experience where you get to serve and help people and make camp a great and enjoyable experience for the campers. It is amazing because you get to be a part of a team; you get to learn more about God and more about yourself.
In my second year on CREW, I learned that I need to be humble, that it is not important to lead a team or have a big role in the team, but to do your part with a joyful and serving heart, no matter how small or unimportant your job might seem.
The whole experience was a lot of fun, but the best bit was being part of a team; getting to know each member, working with them and having fun with them. And we definitely had a lot of fun in the midst of the work. I am thankful that I was a part of Crew and I thank God for being able to come and serve at the DPB House.
