Cupid's 10K Crush

This Sunday!

The course is set, awards and premiums are printed and ready, all that's left is the start! Cupid's 10K Crush will send runners on a rolling, winding romp throughout Druid Hill Park, around the lake, and circling the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. This is a great opportunity to showcase our club and show the local running community we love running, racing, and our members. Bring a friend, run the race, join our club, or just come to cheer your favorite runner. There will be no shortage of entertainment!

Online registration closes on Thursday so don't miss out. Packet pickup is race day only at Parkie Lakeside Pavilion on Grove Road. For the procrastinators out there, we will also have registration on-site race morning. You can find more information at brrc.com.

We're still looking for volunteers. If you're not running and would like to help with packet pickup, course marshal, or help with refreshements, contact race director Rob Santoni
(robsantonijr@gmail.com).

If you are running - RSVP on Facebook! See you Sunday!

About BRRC

The Baltimore Road Runners Club was founded in 1971 by Les Kinion to promote running for both the recreational and the competitive runner.   The BRRC is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).

Our current membership includes runners of all abilities and ages who can enjoy our events on the road, track or trails.

2015
Charlie Reynolds Memorial Scholarship

Applications are now available for our Charlie Reynolds Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is named after BRRC’s late president and Calvert Hall College’s cross-country and track coach. It recognizes graduating high school student athletes in Baltimore City and County who exemplify Charlie’s commitment to and passion for running. In recognition of the growing costs of college education, the 2014 BRRC board approved increasing the scholarship awards to $3,000 each for one male and one female graduating high school senior. The due date for applications is April 1, 2015. Our scholarship committee, lead by chair Gene Grady, will identify award recipients by May 1, 2015.

BRRC Runners Win Maryland GPS Awards

Two runners representing BRRC have placed in their age group and won awards for the 2014 Maryland Grand Prix Series. The MD RRCA GPS Series is a state-wide competition similar to our own BRRC GPS Series (did you catch all that?). Dmitriy Valekha placed 2nd in the Male 35-39 caterogry, while Ronnie Wong won the Male 65-69 division. Congratulations guys! Awards will be presented to the winners (if present) or a Club representative at the upcoming MD 10 Mile Club Challenge in Columbia on 2/22.  Please congratulate Dmitriy and Ronnie when you see them on the roads or at the races. Ronnie will be sure to tell you all about it.

Super Bowl Trail Race

This year’s Super Bowl Trail Race was another great success! The temperatures were cold but the trails were in great shape with very little snow or ice. We had 143 runners, making it the largest BRRC non-premium race in the last few years. We also had a fantastic crew of almost 30 volunteersChris Beck was the overall and 1st place male finisher for the 2nd year in a row. He finished almost a full 6 minutes ahead of the next runner! Kristin Bremer was the first place female cruising in at 1:05:53. The trail series kicked off it’s new “cupless” policy with this race with all runners receiving a reusable cup to carry with them at future trail races. We had generous donations from Alan Hirsch of Donna’s Cross Keys and Charles Village who provided the wonderful coleslaw and the rolls. All runners were treated to pulled pork sandwiches. Chips donated by Juda McGannon of Newton Running and Sun Rype fruit snacks donated by Steven Nguyen. Special thanks to Doug Steward of Fastenal of Owings Mills who donated 2,000 flags which is enough for marking all the trail races for this year. We are also pleased to say that both Cromwell Valley Park and Talmar will be receiving generous donations as all the proceeds from this race will donated between the two groups. Thanks to our runners for making this race such a success! We hope to see everyone out again for all the trail races throughout the year!
