Since the last edition I have,

~  continued my schedule of regular work around Harrow East.

~  had a meeting with Howard Cox, Co Founder of FairFuelUK, to discuss the campaign to have a public inquiry held into allegations of oil price manipulation and forecourt pricing.

~ published a joint pamphlet with a number of my Parliamentary colleagues entitled,'The Party of Opportunity', complied by David Amess MP with a foreword by Rt Hon John Major.
~  combined forces with fellow local MP Nick Hurd to invite the Minister for Culture, Ed Vaizey, to Harrow Arts Centre in Hatch End to demonstrate the importance of this vital community hub, and then took him on a tour of Bob Lawrence Library in Edgware; another vital community hub which remains under threat of closure by the council.
~ attended a lobby on access to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy treatment, where I met Harrow residents Manoj and Sejal Tharkrar to discuss the care of their 4 year old son who has the condition.
~  celebrated the success of local business owner Pamela Orji who started her hugely successful Hannah and Hugh skincare range for sensitive baby skin using a start-up loan. I visited Natural Health Options on the Stanmore Broadway with Business Minister Matthew Hancock to sample her popular range of products for sensitive skin.
~  had a wonderful time at the Thai Pongal Community Celebration which took place in the Civic Chamber at Harrow Council. The event was organised by the Harrow Tamil Association and is an annual event, held to honour the sun and secure a bountiful harvest in the year ahead.

~  joined forces with Hannah David, the Conservative PPC for Harrow West, in order to facilitate a meeting between the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, and the NHS Harrow Clinical Commissioning Group to discuss a range of issues related to local healthcare and future financing.
~  took part in a very well attended service at Betleem Pentecostal Church in Dollis Hill, on the invitation of Pastor Nistor, and I was honoured to be able to speak about the traditional Christian values of family, hard work and treating others well.
~  continued my programme of events for the Bob Blackman Business Breakfast Club, a group which brings local business owners together to discuss trade and issues facing the sector over a hearty breakfast, with a guest speaker attending from the industries or from the political sphere.
~  marked the 25th Anniversary of the ethnic cleansing which took place in Jammu and Kashmir, during which so many Kashmiri Pandits were killed and many more forced out of their homeland and into refuge camps, with fellow MP Virendra Sharma at Vishwa Hindu Kendra Temple. I also sponsored an exhibition and an informational video screening in Parliament, with the support of the Kashmiri Pandits Cultural Society UK and I tabled an Early Day Motion to mark the anniversary and express condolence to the families of those who lost loved ones at that time.
~  met representatives of the Harrow Youth Parliament to discuss the 'Raise the Wage' campaign for a compulsory Living Wage which the UK Youth Parliament is supporting to improve the lives of younger people.
~  invited Nick Boles MP to visit to Stanmore College and meet with our talented media students. We were both asked questions on a range of subjects and interviewed for one of their projects. I will be taking five of the students to Downing Street for an event with creative industries champions so they can gain a clearer insight into the sort of careers they may wish to pursue.

~  marked the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau by taking part in a series of events to honour the memory of all those who were murdered during the Holocaust, and also to pay tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people. I signed the Holocaust Memorial Trust’s Book of Commitment, attended the very moving ‘70 Days for 70 Years Project’ tribute at Stanmore Synagogue with Holocaust survivor Gena Turgel MBE and also joined congregants at Stanmore Baptist Church and Westminster Abbey for further commemorations.
~  opened a careers fair at Canons High School with more than 40 organisations attending. It's so encouraging to see employers going to students and showing them what they can offer, rather than young people having to take their chances when it comes to finding good job opportunities.

~  hosted a meeting between Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, a Senior Minister from the Gujarat Government, and British MPs during his recent visit to the UK with his delegation. The event was organised with the support of the National Congress of Gujarati Organisations UK.
~  continued my work on the Communities and Local Government Select Committee and the Backbench Business Committee.
~  had meetings with various colleagues, constituents and charity representatives to discuss the issues that matter to our area.
