10) #WeHaveAPlan - Are you ready to see it?

February 3, 2015 - Today is a big day on the road to ending poverty in Canada.

This morning, on Parliament Hill, we released Dignity for All: A National Anti-Poverty Plan for
Canada.

Si vous voulez lire le plan en français, cliquez-ici.

Over the past five years, the Dignity for All campaign has garnered support from 15,000 people in Canada and 600 organizations who believe it is time for the Federal Government to step up and take responsibility for this country’s impoverished populations.

Read: "Canada ‘needs a plan’ on poverty, says campaign group" by Sara Mojtehedzadeh, The Toronto Star

This plan was developed through an extensive process of community engagement by Dignity for All and presents the key planks of an anti-poverty plan that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of low-income people living in Canada, achieving greater prosperity and security for all.

The plan calls for the Federal Government to immediately take action to address both the immediate and long-term needs of the 1 in 7 Canadians who live in poverty.

Canadians care about poverty; it is no longer an issue that individual members of parliament can avoid.

Join us today and throughout this election year by sharing the plan with your networks on social media as well as with your local politicians and media outlets.

The campaign is planning our next steps and is open to invitations to provide workshops and training on how to use the plan in your community. Contact Dignity for All for more info: dignity@dignityforall.ca.

15) Save the Date: Transformative Mediation Workshop in Halifax

The ADR Atlantic Institute is pleased to sponsor the workshop “TRANSFORMATIVE MEDIATION: Foundations and Practice”.

Transformative mediation is based on the values of "empowerment" of each of the parties and "recognition" by each of the parties of the other parties' needs, interests, values and points of view. The potential for transformative mediation is that any or all parties or their relationships may be transformed during mediation. Transformative mediators meet with parties together, since only the parties can give each other "recognition".  In transformative mediation, the parties structure both the process and the outcome of mediation, and the mediator follows their lead.

This three-day workshop will be facilitated by Joseph P. Folger, Ph. D. (author of The Promise of Mediation: The Transformative Approach to Conflict) and Co-Facilitated by Basia Solarz, Certified Transformative Mediator™ --

This is a tremendous opportunity for both mediators and arbitrators to be introduced to the principles and techniques of this unique approach directly from the author of this innovative and popular mediation approach.

When:  May 12 to 15, 2015 at St. Mary’s University in Halifax NS.
For more information and to register, visit the ADR Atlantic website.
