Bookshare Performance Enhancements
We have significantly improved the library load times associated with very large DAISY books, including text books and reference materials. Customers should experience a 50-80% improvement in the time it takes to add a large book to their Library. We have also incorporated book formatting improvements to split the DAISY book into sections navigable from the FORWARD and BACK buttons in the Reading Screen. Customers will also notice a significant improvement in the time it takes to open up a book and start reading.

Read-To-Me Composition
Image of Open LORE Read-To-Me Screen with save and edit buttonsThe Read-To-Me feature is excellent for previewing material found on the web or from other text files. Customers can also type text into Read-To-Me for proofing purposes. Open LORE Read 1.1 adds the ability to save the Read-To-Me text as a Rich Text File (*.rtf). Customers may then open the *.rtf file in Microsoft Word or other word processing software for formatting. This will allow full composition support from drafting a document, proofing it with text-to-speech and synchronized text tracking, then saving the document for formatting. February Genuine Classic Book Releases

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland book coverAlice's Adventures in Wonderland, by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, was first published in 1865. The book opens up with a bored Alice, lazily sitting by a riverbank on a hot summer afternoon, "...when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her." Nothing unusual about that - until the hurried rabbit pulls out a pocket-watch from the waistcoat it was wearing! Alice follows him into his rabbit-hole and so begins one of the craziest adventures with the most memorable characters that a little girl has ever experienced!

Through the Looking Glass book coverThrough the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There, by Lewis Carroll and first published in 1871 is the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The story opens as Alice is playing with "Snowdrop" and "Kitty" (white and black kittens) when she wonders what the world is like on the other side of a mirror's reflection. After climbing up on the mantel she is startled to discover that she is indeed able to step through the mirror into an alternative world of amazing places and "people".

The Wind in the Willows book coverThe Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame, was first published in 1908. Later popularized by Disney in an animated movie and theme park rides, the story follows Mole, Ratty, and several other charming characters as they live in the Thames Valley. The tales begin as Mole is doing his annual spring-cleaning, when the industrious creature throws down his broom, declares "Hang spring-cleaning!", and bolts from the house to start his adventure instead.
