IT'S BACK TO SCHOOL FOR HONDURAN CHILDREN!

The Honduran school year started in early February, and we were busier than ever this year distributing shoes, uniforms, and school supplies for children in rural Honduras!  Thanks to some very generous donors, and in partnership with Project Ascend, Central America, we were able to provide (and are still providing) hundreds of school children with the basics they need in order to be able to attend school.  In many cases, the lack of a $6 pair of shoes, or a $1 notebook and pencil, are all that keep these kids from having access to an education!  And thanks to you, we can make a difference!!
CONTINUED WORK IN GUATEMALA
Our work continues in Guatemala, helping children and teachers with school supplies and toys to help make their schools happy places to be!! As you can see, some villages we work with are more "rural" than others... I can only reach this one by boat!
RECYCLING FOR SOAP PROJECT CONTINUES IN LA LAGUNA!
Our recycling-for-soap program is continuing to make a difference in La Laguna!  Children are collecting recyclables and turning them in for a variety of soaps and detergents!  Thanks so much to the donors who support this program! And a special thanks this time to the Wildkats Golf Club for their great support!
SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS UPDATE
Humberto is the first child in the village of Los Tapescos to attend high school.  He is a super hard worker, and his former primary teacher, who has taken him under her wing, tells us he is getting great grades!  BV helps with basic expenses such as shoes, uniform costs, and basic school supplies.
Yolanda comes from a humble town in Guatemala.    She wants to be a nurse.   Her mother and grandmother are single moms, but are doing their best to help put her through nursing school, which is hours away from her home.  She has other siblings in school which makes it even harder to find the funds. She is extremely bright and eager and loves her studies.
If you are interested in helping to support Humberto or Yolanda in their studies, or other kids just like them who are waiting to further their education, you may donate by clicking HERE, or contact Ellen at EllenLFinn@hotmail.com!
CHILDREN IN LOS TAPESCOS ADDED TO MILK PROGRAM!

After the tragic death of a young boy due to malnutrition and anemia last December in Los Tapescos, we began looking for a way to add this village to our school milk program.  A wonderful donor stepped up, and now children in Los Tapescos are provided with fortified milk on a daily basis!  In a village where the supposed government-provided daily snack rarely arrives, this is one of the only sources of nutrition these children get!  Our profound gratitude goes out to our wonderful supporters, who answer the call when something needs to be done!!
Teaching... it's about so much more than test scores...
