What a busy start to 2015 at Galong
The year has started at St Clement’s with our corridors and rooms filled with smiling faces. A number of participants in the year’s first two retreats were newcomers to Galong. “This was my first visit to Galong after all these years living in Canberra,” said one. “I have a feeling it may not be the last.”
The Restore My Spirit music retreat weekend led by Sr Carmel Pilcher and Sr Margaret Cusack, and the Eat, Pray, Paint weekend for artists led by Canberra iconographer Sue Orchison were both popular additions to the St Clement’s annual retreat program.
The popular Redemptorist Fr Leo Coffey, who is well-known from his time at Galong, will be back to lead The Emmaus Journey week-long retreat from 9 to 13 March. In April, he will lead a six-day guided retreat.
Josephite Sr Robyn McNamara and St Clement’s Fr Bill Goldman CSsR will guide retreatants on a Marian Retreat from Friday, 1 May, to Sunday, 3 May. On the weekend of the historic annual Marian procession at Galong, participants will join in reflecting on Mary, the Mother of God, as a woman of faith and the disciple who leads us to Jesus.

Who was St Clement?
St Clement’s Monastery, which includes the Retreat Centre, is named after Austrian-born Saint Clement Hofbauer (1751-1820). He joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer while Saint Alphonsus was still living but never actually met the founder. He is responsible for the spread of the Congregation beyond the Alps into Europe and the New World. For more about St Clement’s, click here.
