Mobile Telecommunication Towers


Council has been working with the State and Commonwealth Government for some years to establish additional mobile telecommunication towers within the Shire to improve the existing poor mobile phone coverage in this area.  Read more for further announcements.....

Fox Shoot Fundraiser


On the weekend of the 20-22 February 2015 a ‘Red Card for Foxes & Rabbits’ event was held in the Chapman Valley region aiming to raise community awareness of the need to control feral animals.  A follow up Fox Shoot will be held on 20-22 March 2015, 7am and we need your support again for another successful event!   FREE COOKED BREAKFAST SUPPLIED!!  For details on winners and the next shoot, click here.  

Fire and Emergency Volunteers

 
HAVE YOUR SAY - Support and preparedness of fire and emergency services volunteers.  The Auditor General for Western Australia is conducting an audit into the support and preparedness of fire and emergency service volunteers. To help inform this audit, you are invited to complete a survey and have your say about your experiences as a volunteer.

Chapman Valley Community Directory


The Fourth Edition of the Community Directory is now open!  Entries close on 1 April 2015.  If you've changed your details since August 2013, update online or email so it can be updated for you. If you have a specky Chapman Valley images we could use for the front cover, please email that through also.  For more information on the CV Community Directory, click here.

Glenn Mitchell Event


Chapman Valley was treated last week to a visit from former ABC Radio personality, Glenn Mitchell.  Glenn's address on his life journey with mental illness was filled with key messages and an element of humour.  For photo's and more information click here.
Chapman Valley Menshed will soon be posting snippets on their website as well as DVD's which will also be available soon.  

Anyone who wishes to follow up with fully funded mental health first aid training on the 11th March 2015 (or an alternative date), please register your interest with Shire's Community Development Officer.

LOCAL EVENTS

Get In Your Go Zone

Learn how busy people can be efficient and get things done in a short space of time.  Find ways to have a manageable work life balance.  Get In Your Go Zone events are being held in Mullewa and Geraldton next week, RSVP now.

ANZAC Camp Out

The Northampton RSL is organising a Gallipoli Campout and Night Vigil for the night of 24 April 2015 and they need people to register their interest.  If you are interested in attending, please click here for more information.

Local Projects Update
 

Chapman Valley Menshed - The concrete pad has been laid, the pre-lay for plumbing works are installed, the shed kit is on site and the contractors will be on site soon to erect. 
Yuna Community Centre - Rammed Earth walls are currently being constructed and expected to be completed in the coming weeks.  The building is still on track to be completed by June 2015.

East Bowes Road -  On schedule to be completed and open by the 13th March. 
Richards Road and Dolby Drive - Road closed on 10th March.  More information...

RBDC Farm Business Assessment Scheme
The Rural Business Assessment Scheme has been extended to June 30 2015.  Grants up to $5000 are available along with other programs.  RBDC (Rural Business Development Council) are visiting the Northern Ag Region on the 12th Marchclick here for more information.
Access DoT direct and register to receive a free personalised account where you can manage all information relating to your personal vehicle licence and drivers licence, as well as pay all bills associated with these licences.  There is also temporary movement of vehicle permits available.

Australia Post Parcel Collect

Register for our Parcel Collect service to pick up your parcels at an Australia Post location that suits you.  How does it work? When you register online, Aust Post assign you a unique Australia Post Customer Number. You will then need to select the Parcel Collect location most convenient to you. Australia Post send you an SMS or email when it arrives so you can collect it straight away.

Council will meet at 9.00am in the Council Chambers at Nabawa (3270 Chapman Valley Road) on each ordinary meeting date.
 


Grants
  


GRANTS FOR WOMEN'S PROJECTS

Community organisations and local governments can apply for up to $5,000 for projects supporting women’s economic independence and leadership in our region.  Deadline for applications is the 12th March. 


SPORT AND RECREATION FACILITIES FUND
 
Small Grants of up to $200,000, as well as Forward Planning grants are now available through Department of Sport and Recreation.  To access the guidelines and application click here.  All applications need to be submitted for Council approval by 9th March 2015.


COLES JUNIOR LANDCARE GRANTS

Coles are providing School Garden Grants of up to $1,000 to schools and youth groups to help create gardens in their grounds or community, such as bush tucker gardens, water wise gardens or veggie gardens.  Grants deadline is the 27th March.


OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD COMMUNITY GRANTS

Australia Post are offering one-off cash payments of up to $10,000 for projects that will help to build healthier, more vibrant and more inclusive communities across Australia.  Grant applications close on Friday, 4 April 2014.  To access more information, click here.


JETSTAR FLYING GRANTS PROGRAM

Entry is open to not-for-profit community groups and organisations of any size, who are seeking funding to help enhance the lives of people in their local community.  The community group or organisation should have a specific project in mind for how the grant will be used to benefit their local community. Grants available 1st Oct – 31st Dec 2015. Click here for more information.


REGIONAL ARTS FUND

The Project Fund enables Western Australian regional, remote or very remote communities or artists to partner with arts and cultural leaders to create high quality arts activities. Funding can cover the cost of artist fees, accommodation, travel, materials, publicity, documentation and any other costs associated with the project.  Grant applications due Friday 13 March 2015  $10,000 - $15,000 available for individuals or community groups.
 


TAKE IT OUTSIDE SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM


Take it Outside grants give you the opportunity to take your programs and activities outside by supporting you to buy equipment or resources that will support this move.  These grants are available to not for profit organisations, charitable organisations and local government authorities.  Application deadline 15th March 2015.


COMMONWEALTH BANK CRICKET SPONSORSHIP

Local cricket clubs have the chance to apply for Club Sponsorships. Each consists of a two-year, $2,000 financial commitment each year, as well as cricket gear. Clubs also get CommBank cricket merchandise, such as Commonwealth Bank marquees, to use on game days.  If your club, or a club you know could use our help, apply by 9 August 2015.  Click here for more information.


SGIO COMMUNITY GRANTS

SGIO provide between $500 - $5000 of funding in four different categories, so it's important to make sure your application is suited to one of our four category descriptions.  Crime Prevention, Road Safety, Emergency Rediness & Response and Environment.   Grants due by 31st March 2015.  More info...


COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM

Office of Multicultural Interests are offering grants of up to $5,000  for an event or activity, or up to $20,000 for a small project.  Community Grants Program supports projects and activities that promote WA’s diverse cultures and encourages participation of culturally diverse communities in all aspects of society.  Applications close on 6th March 2015.


COUNTRY SPORTING CLUB EQUIPMENT SUBSIDY SCHEME

Eligible sporting clubs have the opportunity to apply for a one-off $500 subsidy towards shared equipment. There will be two rounds per year, one for summer clubs and the second for winter clubs. Clubs will be able to apply directly online for this grant current round closes April 2015.


FRRR
 
FRRR grants address issues that make a difference to the sustainability of rural, regional and remote communities.  Up to $5000 grants are available to benefit small rural, regional and remote Australian communities.  Deadline 27th March 2015
