Warriors Crown National Champs at NCCAA Indoors

SWU crowned their first NCCAA National Champions in track and field as the women finished 4th out of 21 teams and the men placed 9th out of 19 scoring teams. The Warriors broke nine school records during the meet. Read more>>

Pastors-in-residence

Southern Wesleyan University’s Division of Religion welcomed Dr. Karl Westfall and Rev. Sharon Butcher Westfall as pastors-in-residence in January. Karl is recently retired after nine years as a district superintendent. Read more>>

Upstate Business Journal interviewed Ray Lattimore ('82) about Marketplace Staffing, the company he founded 19 years ago. Lattimore shared his insights about leadership and inspiration from his years as a student at SWU, then known as Central Wesleyan College. Read more>>
Grandparents Day at SWU, hosted on Friday, March 20, will be a time for making family connections while getting a taste of campus life, sharing meals with grandchildren, touring the historic campus and taking in a ballgame or a musical production. There will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy free time together and several activity choices on that day. Read more>>
SWU's Central campus experienced some frozen precipitation early last week, followed by a week of frigid temperatures. At right, Blue Hill Coffee & Tea Co. did a brisk business as students, faculty and staff sought relief  in the form of hot beverages.

Liz McClearen, a MEDAS student at Southern Wesleyan’s North Augusta learning center, was named Teacher of the Year at Greendale Elementary School, in the Aiken County School District.

Free Children’s Concert

SWU will host Songs for the Family with Betsy BishSaturday, Feb. 28, 10:30 a.m. at Newton Hobson Auditorium. The event is free, but donations will be accepted to help support the Womens Soccer Team's mission trip this summer. Also, if children draw a picture of their favorite Betsy Bish song and arrive by 10:15, their artwork will be displayed on stage and they will be entered for a drawing to win a children’s guitar that has been painted and decorated!

Fine Arts this week

This week, two great fine arts events are planned for the Central campus. Tonight, join the SWU Wind Ensemble for a program of lighter concert works, show tunes, movie themes, marches and special guests. Music from West Side Story, Jurassic Park, The Sound of Music, and The Music Man will be featured along with student soloists and a surprise or two along the way!

This Thursday, the SWU Jazz Invitational will feature many of the Upstate’s finest middle school, high school and col­legiate jazz bands at 6:30 p.m. The Left Bank Jazz Band from the University of South Carolina under the direction of Bryson Borgstedt will be featured at this year's event. The Left Bank Band has been a leader in the jazz scene in South Carolina for many years! This fun and relaxing program will conclude with SWU’s own jazz band.

Southern Open Alumni Golf Tournament

Click here for details about this exciting opportunity for fun and fellowship May 22-24 with alumni and friends at Jekyll Island, Ga. while supporting SWU’s students and programs. 
The trip includes playing a round in the Captain’s Choice Golf Tournament, and non-golfers can enjoy guided tours of Jekyll and St. Simon’s islands, plus a side trip to historic Savannah. Lodging will be at the Westin at Jekyll Island.
