Group to gather in Dogwood Park for morning refresh

COOKEVILLE -- Start your morning with some breathing exercises, get your body moving and then live the rest of your day with increased joy. That’s the idea behind the new Breathe. Move. Live. sessions Lynda Wallace and Eve Soto will be leading at Dogwood Park.
Each Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:15 a.m. beginning March 12, the mother and daughter team will lead participants through some simple breathing techniques followed by 20 minutes of fun, simple movements to get blood flowing and muscles moving and “increase the joy factor.”
“We are holistic health coaches and have been in Cookeville for almost 12 years,” Soto said. “We just love Cookeville and we want to bring health to Cookeville in any way we can.”
The group will meet near the Dogwood Performance Pavilion and everyone age 2 and older is welcome, with those under 16 accompanied by an adult.
“As long as you can move, you can come,” Soto said.
The breathing exercises are easy, they say, and can help bring down stress levels, increase energy and improve circulation. The 20 minutes of movement will not be structured exercise, but more freestyle moving and dancing done with props and music.
Soto is a registered nurse with more than 30 years experience in nursing and 20 years of experience researching and applying alternative medicine. Wallace is certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.
“We want people to see how simple being healthy can be,” Wallace said. “Small changes are key.”
The two not only hope to promote wellbeing, but also a sense of community.
“In our hearts, that’s what we hope will happen,” Soto said.
