Yesterday we saw the most absurd headline on a missive from yet another of those 'tea party' organizations stationed in DC. Obviously they are tugging at your emotions because they want your money... We don't know the answer to the question in the title, but we need to ask, what will they do with that money, file a bill to stop presidents from using hand signals?
Steve Eichler claims he is the "CEO of the Tea Party" but he is not. Note that legitimate tea parties don't have offices in DC, or "CEOs" but volunteer workers. He is in fact a lawyer and a GOP fundraising consultant who came along with this group in 2009 because the GOP thought the use of the word 'tea party' would make for good $$$ and because neocons wanted control of the agenda of a movement that was basically formed against them in 2007.
So when the elusive teaparty.org sent out this plea for money yesterday asking this amazing question...
"Did Obama Flash Muslim Shahada Hand Signal?"
...along with a picture of Obama with one finger raised up in the air... we thought...
Holy Cow.
Talk about irrelevancy! Clearly the message was intended to get an emotional reaction from conservatives in order to extract more funds from them. (As if donating to this bunch of DC insiders would help in the least.)
We have no idea what Obama's hand signal was or meant and frankly, do not care. How is Obama's flashing a gang symbol, if that's what he did, relevant to activism that preserves freedom? How is sending money to this shadowy group in DC going to help stop that, even if it were an important issue? What are they doing with your money if you do send them some?
Continued Obama bashing is preaching to the choir. Yeah we all can't stand Obama, that much is for sure. But how is ranting about stuff we already know considered activism?
What we want to know is, what do these groups actually DO to earn the money they collect? What do they actually do to earn these huge salaries and plush offices in the bowels of the enemy in Washington?
Crazy.
Recently we've had conversations with people who are not quite familiar with the myriad of issues NHTPC tackles each day as it interacts with many other groups. We need to talk about relevancy.
If you really want to DO something to preserve freedom and fight the out-of-control rogue government, don't send your hard-earned money to DC. Don't send it to us, either. We won't ever ask for any.
Instead... we DO ask that you work locally on the tangible problems that threaten your freedoms, right here in NH, in your own back yard.
Here are some things you can do:
1) Get to your NH town and school meetings (January-June) and defeat the master plans created by the regional commissions. If you don't, you will see higher taxes, less property rights, and more congested living conditions. You many not be able to vote on zoning amendments in the future. Attend your school meetings and remind your boards that parents, not the 'state', have the ultimate say in their child's education. Did you know that some boards are attempting to have people arrested for merely speaking out, which is their right? Did you know that NH's Education Commissioner Virginia Barry just made this shocking declaration that the state's right over your children supersedes YOUR rights as a parent?

2) Testify at hearings in the NH legislature for or against bills that preserve or deny freedom. Write to the bill's sponsors and the committees that will do preliminary study and hearings. Write to your reps or the body at large. Here's one you can work on right now:
New Hampshire HB 685 has been filed to protect the 2nd Amendment from federal abuse.
It is designed to block enforcement of almost any new federal gun control measures.
1. Call the Chair of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, John Tholl. Be strong, but respectful. Urge him to support HB685 and move the bill forward in his committee. If he won’t commit to a YES vote, ask him why. (603) 837-2278
2. Call all the other members of the Committee. Ask them each for a YES vote on HB685. If they say they’re opposed, ask them why. If they’re undecided or will not commit to a YES vote, let them know you will be following up in a few days after they have a chance to consider it.

3) Have you filed your complaint with the FCC yet? In about a week, the FCC will decide whether they are going to deem the internet a "public utility" so they can regulate it. This is totally illegal for them to create a regulatory rule without congress or any other input, but they are going to attempt to do it anyway.

4) Save your money for your own activism, keep it in NH. Put gas in your car and attend meetings, rallies, and hearings. Use it for acting as a "committee of one" to defend freedom in NH and take action on ISSUES that matter. Meetings are held regularly all over the state, try attending one sometime.
5) Sign THIS PETITION to DEFEND, not AMEND, the US Constitution. There is a move afoot by "neocons" and liberals that has spread to the NH legislature that intends to mess with our precious document. Amending will not guarantee better enforcement.

The Ford foundation spent $25 million writing the NEW STATES CONSTITUTION which eliminates the BILL OF RIGHTS and makes everything a privilege granted by the feds.

6) Help your local tea party. NHTPC is always looking for writers, researchers, videographers, speakers, and event coordinators. Volunteer if you can. Most stuff you can do right from home. If you're an on the go type person, we can send you places. NHTPC works for FREE, always has, always will.
