March 2015
Hello Friends,
How wonderful the recent rains have been on the Central Coast! The Habitat property is waking up with the changing season. Birds are nesting, tadpoles are hatching in the pond and early blossoms are a delight to the eyes!
The busy season for our youth programs has begun, with a series of FOURTEEN FoodConnect field trips launching this week for elementary students from Seaside, Marina and Salinas in the gardens and kitchens. We also hosted 3rd graders from All Saints Day School and will continue our after school programs for the Boys & Girls Club! Healthy, delicious and hands-on-learning at its finest!
Looking ahead, year TWO of our Summer Day Camp is in the works! "Early Bird" registration will begin on March 16th. Check out our website for dates, camp info and more by CLICKING HERE. We can't wait to have a fresh crop of campers learning and growing with us this summer! Scholarships are available, thanks to our generous MC Gives! 2014 donors, making it possible for kids from across the County can be involved!
Spring also brings a flurry of CommunityConnect events for adults, which started with the amazing Chef James Anderson from Affina, who launched our 2015 Sustainable Chef Dinner Series in February, with delicious style and grace.
Tickets are on sale now for our next Sustainable Chef Dinner on March 23rd, featuring Chef Evan Lite of the Beach House at Lovers Point. Reserve your seat today for this special opportunity! Please purchase your tickets HERE!
Lastly, we need your help to make our 3rd annual MEarth Day the best, biggest and most sustainable community celebration ever! We are looking for Sponsors, Eco-Exhibitors, Silent Auction donors and volunteers to help bring this well-loved event to life. Click HERE to see how you can get involved!
Warm regards,
Tanja Roos, MNA
