Dear <<Name>>,

After a lull in cookbook publishing after the holidays, the pace is picking up and each month brings more new cookbooks. February features new releases from familiar names, and the cookbook award nominations have begun.

Lately the news in the USA has revolved around the record-breaking weather. If the weather has you down, take heart with a reminder that the season is about to change. You can begin to celebrate by making a St. Patrick's Day feast with inspiration from our Pinterest board.

Complete author indexes...with more on the way!
Love Annabel Langbein? Can't get enough of Dorie Greenspan? For these great authors and others, EYB has a complete recipe index. We've collaborated with prominent authors to include every recipe in each of their cookbooks, plus recipes that have appeared online in newspapers, blogs, and on their websites.

Dorie's index is about to get bigger with a new column in the Washington Post that we have started indexing.  We've got other authors in the pipeline too, so stay tuned. You can view all complete author indexes by visiting the Recipes Library and clicking on the filter for Compete Author Indexes at the bottom right.

To date, these authors have a complete index on EYB: Maggie Beer, Rose Levy Beranbaum, Mark Bittman, Clotilde Dusoulier, Dorie Greenspan, Diana Henry, and Annabel Langbein.
Spreading the word plus a contest
It’s always great to see EYB members helping us spread the word about EYB. A long-time supporter, Roberta Muir, cookbook author and manager of Sydney Seafood School, is running a competition to win one year memberships to Eat Your Books plus some great signed cookbooks (competition limited to residents of Australia).

Cookbook award season
Cookbook award season is right around the corner. This year there's a new competition from the magazine The Art of Eating. Food52's The Piglet competition is approaching the final stages. The usual big players like the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) and the James Beard Foundation (JBF) are gearing up to announce finalists soon. Will a self-published book surprise everyone like The Stone Edge Farm Cookbook did last year? You can find out the answers on the EYB blog--we'll keep you informed of the latest developments.
Read an excerpt from Rachel Khoo's latest cookbook
A graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, Rachel Khoo's passion for patisserie lured her to Paris, where she obtained a pastry degree from Le Cordon Bleu. In addition to working in a Paris culinary bookstore and tea salon, La Cocotte, Rachel has written several popular cookbooks.

We scored a snippet from the introduction to her latest, Rachel Khoo's Kitchen Notebook. Read the excerpt, and see an example of an illustration from Rachel's actual travel notebook that is featured in the book.
February cookbook roundup
Publishers are just starting to ramp up production following the January lull. This month's US trends include diet books marketed to men, ethnic Paleo, smoothies, juicing, raw vegan sweets, and DASH diet books. In the UK, celebrity chefs (and spouses) from the Great British Bake Off have new releases this month, a classic gets reissued for its 25th anniversary, and baking books are still going strong. Australian cookbooks are all over the map (literally, from Greece to Mexico). See all the new releases in the February roundup.
Cookbook giveaway
After years of living in Paris, Rachel Khoo recently returned to her hometown of London. Excited by the city's vivacious food scene, Rachel decided to make her hometown the focus of one part of her new cookbook, Rachel Khoo's Kitchen Notebook. The cookbook is packed with 100 standout recipes, full-colour photography and Rachel's very own sketches of the food and places she encounters.

We're delighted to offer two copies of Rachel Khoo's Kitchen Notebook to EYB Members. Click the photo to view the contest, which ends March 13.
