myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin Adds Full-Time Executive Director

(February 24, 2015) myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin is excited to announce the addition of a full-time executive director. Christian Jensen, who founded the Wisconsin chapter and has served as the executive director on both a part-time and volunteer basis since the organizations inception in 2010, will now serve in the role full-time. The move will allow the non-profit to expand its reach and impact throughout the state.

“Adding a full-time executive director is a big milestone for a non-profit. myTEAM TRIUMPH has grown by leaps and bounds the last five years and with big goals in place for the upcoming year, the time was right to take this step,” said Tim Felmer, board president of myTEAM TRIUMPH.  “We are thrilled to have Christian at the helm and know that his leadership and passion are going to help us make a bigger difference with our organization.”

myTEAM TRIUMPH is an athletic mentoring program created for children, teens, adults and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races. The challenged athletes, called captains, are guided with specialized race equipment by able-bodied athletes, referred to as angels.

“In 2010 we participated in 10 events with 20 captains and 50 angels. Just five years later we have expanded to five regions throughout the state, will be participating in 56 events with over 500 captains, nearly 2300 angels and over 300 volunteers,” said Jensen. “Lives are being touched, changed and enriched through our work and we are now positioned to touch even more people of all abilities. I’m excited to have the capacity to dedicate more time and energy to our volunteer staff, captains and angels. ”

myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin is a state-wide chapter of myTEAM TRIUMPH, Inc., which was founded in 2008. The chapter aims to enrich the health and well-being of individuals with disabilities by fostering lasting, authentic relationships through the teamwork environment of endurance athletics and currently serves five regions of the state – Northeast, Milwaukee, Madison, Fox Valley and Wausau.
