In advance of the White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism, UAE Ambassador to the US Yousef Al Otaiba calls for greater action against ISIL and extremists in a new op-ed published in Politico. Ambassador Al Otaiba highlights the need for boots on the ground in the battle to degrade and defeat ISIL, as well as the importance of actions beyond the battlefield - including cutting off the flow of funds and fighters to extremists, and the role of influential clerics in confronting and discrediting extremist ideologies.
The UAE strongly condemns Islamic extremism in all of its forms, and is working closely with the United States and other partners in the international coalition to confront ISIL.
