Panorama Lounge to be reinvented as
innovative culinary destination The One Eighty

Beloved Toronto institution on the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre
to introduce unique LA-inspired dining experience

Toronto, ON – Harkening back to the era of elevated cocktail-lounge service and whimsical dining as a grand experience, The One Eighty will re-establish the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre as Toronto’s premiere celebratory destination. Renowned for its spectacular, panoramic north and south views of the city and romantic atmosphere, the space formerly known as Panorama has closed for renovations as of Feb. 15 and will reopen mid-March as The One Eighty.

Owned by Eatertainment, Canada’s award-winning event management and catering brand, The One Eighty’s unique concept is inspired by President Sebastien Centner’s travels around the globe. Introducing a fun, luxe take on interactive table-side service to charm guests, servers visit tables between courses, offering exclusive gastronomic items and specialty cocktails from stylish bar-carts. Select house cocktails are served bottled for a pop-art touch. Fully aligned with Eatertainment’s reputation as an industry leader in innovative food dishes and artful presentation, a newly expanded kitchen will allow for a heightened focus on the culinary experience.

We are introducing a unique approach to dining unlike any other in Canada, and bringing the culinary experience to a whole new level, with The One Eighty,” said Sebastien Centner, President and CEO of Eatertainment. “Guests will love The One Eighty’s new contemporary and luxurious décor, highlighting the incredible views of the city, but our real focus is on creating an outstanding menu that pushes the boundaries of innovation while remaining highly accessible.”

The name refers not only to the 180-degree-view of the city, but also reflects the approach to the new food menu. Spearheaded by Eatertainment Executive Chef Christopher Matthews, whose culinary inventions are inspired by great art and architectural design, the menu features fresh, new takes on recognizable comfort dishes from culinary cultures around the world. Harmonizing the relationship between great taste, perfect texture and bold colour, each dish is founded on quality ingredients, while being grounded in the core concepts of Local Food Plus (LFP) and slow food.

Appetizers and salads will include duck confit hash with rapini; and lobster gratin with kettle chips and lemony pea shoots. Mains include buttermilk fried chicken and waffles with chipotle honey and lemon; rosemary spatchcock Cornish hen with zucchini tagliatelle; green pea risotto with edamame and pickled beets; and house made white pizza flatbread with prosciutto and smoked provolone. For dessert, guests can choose from among the tempting molten chocolate macaron with vanilla bean ice cream; the decadent chocolate peanut butter tart; or the refreshing creamsicle panna cotta. The unique daily snack-cart offerings, not found on the everyday menu, will range from saffron arancini with pepper sauce; to sweet and sour tofu with organic watercress; and Taiwanese popcorn chicken with sweet chili sauce, to name just a few of the daily creations which will be offered.

A range of delicious cocktails will also be on offer, from the aromatic to the bourbon-based. The Coconut Lavender Lemonade and Blood Orange Sangria are both vodka based with sweet and tart elements, making them ideal for the upcoming patio season, while the Rosemary Maple Bourbon Sour will warm up even the coldest of Toronto days.

The 3,000 sq. ft. interior reflects a unique juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary luxury. A palette of cool greys and rich metals is complemented by warm wood, creating a modern but comfortable space. Glossy white barrel-vaulted ceilings evoke elegance, while a 14-seat Caesarstone showpiece M-bar with a built-in DJ station and chef's rail, plays perfectly into The One Eighty’s lounge vibe. Accentuating the view of the city even further, the highly sought-after North and South patios, spanning 1,500 sq. ft., will now feature seamless glass panels for unobstructed views of the city.

Beginning mid-March, The One Eighty will be open Sunday to Wednesday from 5 p.m. – 1 a.m. and Thursday to Saturday 5 p.m. – 2 a.m. For more information, please visit www.the51stfloor.com.
