Happy Spring!
This month featuring our summer job postings, welcome to new staff members, notice of the 2015 AGM + more!

A Message from Emiko Morita,
Executive Director

I am honoured to be the new ED at PSFS after 7 years of strong leadership by outgoing General Manager and Program Director Kristen Lambertson. My first few weeks have been exciting, heart-warming and busy! I have met many board, committee and community members who are deeply committed to a shared vision of Powell Street Festival. They contribute months of planning and hard work, and their good intentions are palpable. It seems only yesterday when I first worked at PSF, helping to build tents alongside some festival founders, but that was actually back in August 1990. I’m truly heartened to see today how profoundly their vision has taken root.

I am pleased to announce that at the end of this month, we will be welcoming Mark Takeshi McGregor as the Artistic Director, a newly created position, and Asia Harvey as Administrative Assistant. We will be the fresh new faces of the PSFS permanent staff! Come to our AGM on April 16 and get to know us during the meet-and-greet after the formal meeting.

To all our community and artistic partners, thank you for your submitting your applications. It’s exciting to see them arrive because it means festival production is just around the corner!

Introducing the PSFS Artistic Director
and Administrative Assistant!

We are happy to announce new members to the PSF staff:

Mark Takeshi McGregor is a musician, visual artist, and arts administrator who has been working in the Canadian cultural community for over twenty years. He is a Hapa Sansei whose heritage continues to be an immense source of inspiration. Mark is beyond thrilled to be joining the PSF family and is looking forward to continuing a tradition of cultural events that connect our communities, inspire dialogue, and provide a platform for emerging and established Japanese Canadian and Asian Canadian artistic talent.

Asia Harvey is an arts administrator at Republic Gallery and Development Coordinator for the Vancouver Art/Book Fair. She completed her post-graduate education at McGill in 2012.
She fills her days riding her bike, cooking, and reading. In her time off, she can be found on hikes in the forest or at the beach with her puggle, Lucy. She is a hapa Yonsei, and has fond memories of attending the Powell Street Festival with her family growing up.
