Celebrate National Engineers Week at Johns Hopkins!


MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23


Tower of Power
Glass Pavilion, doors open at 5 p.m., competition 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Undergraduate and graduate student, alumni, and middle-school teams 
compete  to build the tallest tower from dry spaghetti and marshmallows.  Top teams win prizes.  Pizza and sodas provided. Teams must register. Spectators are welcome. Hosted by Theta Tau.


TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24


Engineers Without Borders Coffee & Donuts 
Breezeway between Shriver and Ames halls, 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
EWB Hopkins hosts coffee and donuts. Stop by, get your EWeek schedule, and learn about current EWB projects. Hosted by EWB Hopkins.

BME EDGE Speakers Series with Vasoptic Medical
Clark Hall 110, Noon – 1 p.m., with lunch included
BME alumni M. Jason Brooke, MSE ’04, JD, CEO and general council, Vasoptic Medical Inc. and Abhishek Rege, PhD ’12, chief technology officer, Vasoptic Medical Inc. will speak on their journey from JHU to startup. A Q&A session will follow.

JHU Aerospace Affinity provides a fascinating panel for those interested in aerospace.  The panel provides insight into aerospace career paths from JHU alums. Dinner from Chipotle will be provided. Registration is required. Hosted by JHU Aerospace Affinity.

Speed Networking 
Charles Commons, Salon A and Salon B: 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Hone networking skills by meeting alumni and other students in a speed-dating style format. Attendees rotate through a series of quick 
one-on-one meetings. Learn the importance of a good first impression 
and perfect your “elevator pitch.” Reception to follow. RSVP required.

The Ilene Busch-Vishniac Women in Engineering Lecture
Hackerman Hall B17, 3 – 5 p.m.
This annual lecture features an accomplished woman in engineering to highlight the intellectual contributions of female engineers. This year’s speaker is Emilie Hudson from BP America Inc. Reception to follow. RSVP Required. Hosted by the Society of Women Engineers.

The 4th Annual Calvert County Public Schools 
Science and Engineering EXPO
Calvert High School, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Join other Hopkins Engineering Alumni for a fun event to meet future engineers and scientists and give them critical feedback on science fair projects.
