This Week on The Nordic Web.

To complement our 2014 Nordic Funding Analysis, we thought it was only right we also produced an analysis looking at the exits from the region in 2014.

We tracked a total of 54 exits, 35 of those were undisclosed, but the 19 disclosed deals amounted to an impressive $17.11B: 2014 Nordic Exit Analysis.

Last week it was revealed that US funding was responsible for half of all new funding in London’s tech sector in 2014, with $795.2M of $1.4bn Venture Capital invested in London's startups coming from the U.S. We decided to look at How much money from the U.S came into the Nordics in 2014.

Earlier this week we revealed that Facebook were the most active acquirer of Nordic Startups in 2014 (Pryte, Moves and 13thLab) and with $14B in cash and securities burning a hole in their pocket, we reckon it's only a matter of time before they resume shopping in the region, but who is next on their shopping list? We named six Nordic startups: Who will Facebook buy next?

The Nordics have a long history of gathering people together to gorge on food and drink, dating all the way back to the Vikings and we thought it was only right to continue that tradition, but instead of just stuffing ourselves silly, we should also be feeding ourselves something that is just as important as food and drink; knowledge.

Introducing FEAST: an event series from The Nordic Web where entrepreneurs gather for dinner and feast themselves on great food interspersed with great talks, with each event having a new theme.

“In the tech world, things move fast and companies are born anywhere in the world. I’m able to have an ear to the ground with The Nordic Web - the content is fresh, local, and of high quality, which is exactly what you need as a seed investor.

In fact, it’s through Neil Murray’s newsletter that I first heard about Mapillary. Several months later, I was fortunate to lead our firm’s investment in the Company to help drive the creation of a crowdsourced visual representation of our world.”
