In the interest of giving you as much advance notice as possible, here's the date of the 45-year reunion for Ramona High School's Class of '70:
The weekend of October 9-11, 2015 in Riverside
Currently, the plan is to have events similar to what we did five years ago for our 40-year reunion. This is how the weekend will probably look:
- Friday evening, October 9 (Homecoming) - "Tailgate Party" at Ramona High School, followed by the homecoming football game at Ramona Stadium.
- Saturday, October 10 -
- A morning hike up Mt Rubidoux.
- Meet afterwards at D'Elia's on University for grinders.
- The "official" reunion that evening at Canyon Crest County Club.
- Sunday, October 11 - informal gathering/picnic during the day at Fairmount Park.
I'm going to post this information on the Ramona Class of '70 web site, Facebook, Classmates.com, and other public places where alumni might stumble across it.
These are the things you should do now:
- Save the date! Check your calendar, pencil that weekend in, and consider booking airline tickets soon if you plan on flying in. These dates will not change.
- Verify your contact info. I've uploaded the 2011 Alumni Address Book that was provided to all attendees at the 40-year reunion. It is available at this invisible link (i.e., can't be found by search engines) as a 2 MB PDF file. These are the addresses we'll use to mail out the invitation and reservation forms in May. If you've moved or changed your mailing address since this was published, you probably won't receive them. Reply to this e-mail if you need to provide updated information.
- Consider joining the reunion planning committee. Like last time, we will organize and plan the reunion events ourselves, which gives us maximum flexibility and keeps the costs reasonably low so that nobody is excluded. No matter where you live, if you're interested in helping out, we can use you... but we can especially use volunteers in Riverside for local arrangements (venue details, catering, entertainment, door prizes, etc.).
To join the reunion planning committee, go to the Ramona Class of '70 Reunion Committee list, click the link that says "Join This Group" (use an existing or create a new Yahoo account), and leave a short message identifying yourself and giving some idea how you might be able to help. We'll deal with a lot of the details in this online discussion group.
We have less than eight months to get everything planned and implemented. The more volunteers and input we get, the better it will be. Mark your calendar, and stay tuned for additional details in the coming weeks and months!
