OMFA SPRING BREAK ART CAMP
April 7-10
The first in the annual series of FREE ART CAMPS, sponsored by Owensboro Grain Company, will introduce children to the accomplishments of local artists through a series of gallery talks, demonstrations and hands-on experiences with artists featured in the 53rd Annual Owensboro Art Guild Juried Exhibition. Children will tour the exhibition, meet with a different artist each day and then create works of art based on the style and technique used by the participating artist. DAVIESS COUNTY: THROUGH THE LENS OF ART
May 30-August 15
A key event in Daviess County’s year-long celebration of its 200th anniversary, this exhibition of 200 works of art and artifacts dating from the early 1800’s to the present showcases a visual jubilee of the rich and diverse cultural history of Daviess County and the region. A public reception is scheduled 6:30-8:30 p.m., May 30.

OMFA BICENTENNIAL ART CAMP
June 9-12
The second in the annual series of FREE ART CAMPS will celebrate Daviess County’s Bicentennial and feature the Kentucky Historical Society’s History Mobile. Children will tour the mobile’s exhibition, “Torn Within and Threatened Without: Kentuckians in the Civil War,†and then create works of art based upon the Civil War experience in Kentucky. The mobile will be open to the general public on Saturday, June 13. Reservations may be made by emailing the museum at info@omfa.us or by phoning 270-685-3181.

BUFFALO PAINT OUT AND GALA
October 1-3
The 5th ANNUAL BUFFALO PAINT OUT, sponsored by Swedish Match, invites artists to visit Owensboro for a three-day competition to create works of art documenting the community’s sense of place. The paintings will be presented in a special exhibition and sale during the BUFFALO GALA.
The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art’s annual fundraiser, sponsored by Atmos Energy, supports education programming and community outreach while celebrating its cultural heritage. The BUFFALO GALA, scheduled 6:00-8:00 p.m., October 3, will feature a cocktail buffet of locally raised food, an auction of paintings by artists participating in the Buffalo Paint Out, weekend getaways, jewelry, spirits and more.

39th ANNUAL HOLIDAY FOREST FESTIVAL OF TREES
sponsored by Glenmore Distillery
November 14-December 31
The 39th Holiday Forest Festival of Trees will feature more than a dozen monumental Christmas trees designed and decorated by area artists, floral designers and non-profit organizations. This year’s event, sponsored by Glenmore Distillery, will interpret ACROSS CULTURES, an exhibition of international folk art, and also showcases the John Hampden Smith House, decorated to celebrate the Daviess County Bicentennial. A special gala opening is scheduled 6:30-8:30 p.m., November 14.

ACROSS CULTURES

A celebration of international folk art, ACROSS CULTURES is an exhibition on loan from major museums and private collections that will enlighten residents of all ages regarding the cultures of the world. The exhibition will highlight not only the differences but also the harmonies of art from across the globe and will offer visitors the opportunity to dramatically increase their cultural literacy.
