Be A Good Neighbour: Keep Your Sidewalk Clear of Snow and Ice
Residents are asked to shovel their sidewalks and keep them clear of snow and ice. It keeps the sidewalks safe and it's the neighbourly thing to do! Many people, including children, the elderly, and those using wheelchairs and strollers depend on sidewalks all year long. If you have a neighbour who needs help shoveling, consider lending a hand. Thank you for doing your part and being a good neighbour.

Every Second Counts: Please Keep Fire Hydrants Clear of Snow
The City of Niagara Falls Fire Department is kindly reminding residents that if there is a fire hydrant near your house, to do your part to keep it accessible this winter:
How you can help:
- Remove any snow or ice
- Clear a wide enough perimeter around the hydrant for firefighters to work
- Clear a path from hydrant to street
Thank you for helping to keep our community safe. The 5 minutes it takes may help save a life or a property.

Pet Safety Tips for Winter
1. Bring your pet inside. If the cold is bothering you, it is worse for your cat or dog. Pets need to be inside when the temperature drops below freezing. They should only go outside long enough to conduct "business".
2. Frostbite and hypothermia can effect animals so consider a pet jacket. Cold, wet fur makes their body temperature drop quickly.
3. Be Aware of Antifreeze and Rock Salt. Antifreeze, which often collects on driveways and roadways, is highly poisonous. If you suspect your pet has ingested antifreeze, contact your vet immediately. Rock salt, used to melt ice on sidewalks, can irritate foot-pads. Pet stores often carry pet-safe ice melts that won't cause harm.
