The Forbidden Room (nouveau film de Guy Maddin, coréalisé avec Evan Johnson et issu du projet Seances) a reçu un accueil des plus réjouissants lors de sa présentation au Festival du film de Sundance, au Festival international du film de Berlin, puis au !f Istanbul festival international du film indépendant.

Seances
Le long métrage The Forbidden Room découle d’un ambitieux projet interactif initié par l'ONF, Guy Maddin et Evan Johnson en 2012: le projet Seances. À la fois une installation, un tournage de film et une expérience interactive, Seances s'inspirait de films perdus de l'industrie cinématographique. Le résultat fut éclatant. Riches, colorés et épiques, les fantômes vibrants de Maddin rayonnèrent de leur présence. Cette initiative amorcée en 2012 au Centre Pompidou (Paris), où Maddin avait tourné 18 films, se solda au Centre Phi et permit au public d’assister aux divers tournages sur place, durant une période de près de deux semaines. Véritable séance de spiritisme cinématographique mettant en vedette plusieurs acteurs montréalais, Seances donna vie à un total de 12 courts métrages filmés devant le public en 13 jours, du 4 au 20 juillet 2013. La sortie de Seances est prévue pour 2015.
Guy Maddin
Le cinéaste manitobain Guy Maddin est un artiste multidisciplinaire, à qui l’on doit une dizaine de longs métrages et un nombre spectaculaire de courts métrages. Membre de l’Ordre du Canada et du Manitoba, Guy Maddin a remporté de nombreux prix pour son œuvre, dont celui du meilleur film canadien au Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), en 2007, pour My Winnipeg. Maddin a également collaboré avec l’ONF pour la création de Night Mayor, un film expérimental réalisé et présenté au TIFF, en 2009, à l’occasion du 70e anniversaire de l’ONF.

Seances
The feature film The Forbidden Room stems from an ambitious interactive project the NFB, Guy Maddin and Evan Johnson initiated back in 2012 called Seances. An installation, a film shoot and an interactive experience, Seances took as its inspiration the lost films of cinema history, but the result was an ecstatic hauting: lush, rapid and legion. Maddin's movie-ghosts burn bright, intermingle, and demand that you acknowledge both their absence and their multitude. The project began in 2012 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris where Maddin shot 18 films, and culminated at the Phi Centre where the public was invited to attend the shoot that lasted for almost two weeks. A true act of cinematic spiritualism featuring several Montreal actors, Seances resulted in a total of 12 shorts filmed in front of a live audience over 13 days, from July 4 to 20, 2013. Seances will be released in 2015.
Guy Maddin
Guy Maddin is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist, screenwriter, filmmaker and producer. He has more than ten features to his credit and numerous short films. A Member of the Order of Canada and of Manitoba (his home province), Guy Maddin has won several awards for his work, including Best Canadian Feature Film at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) for My Winnipeg. Guy Maddin has also collaborated with the NFB on the creation of Night Mayor, an experimental film presented at TIFF in 2009 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the NFB.
