Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 555: A Family of Satan-worshipers

Adam and Eve chose to reject God’s merciful, abundant provision. Instead they believed Satan, as if he was the one who could sustain them. Our first ancestors were Satan-worshipers. And before salvation, so were all of us. Eph.2:1-3, 13; 1 Cor.6:9-11

God created the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; Adam and Eve used it to rebel against the Creator. God gave them vegetation to eat; they used it to hide from God in their shame.

They were so filled with pride, they forgot that they were His creatures, made for His glory. Like the people surrounding Aaron and the golden calf, they even rejoiced in their sin.

Gen.3:6 the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.

Acts 7:41 they made a calf in those days, and offered a sacrifice to the idol and were rejoicing in the works of their hands.

If a person loves earthly treasure, but rejects the Creator who provided it, they will lose both.

Deut.30:17-18 if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish.

About This Series

The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21

- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work
