In Focus:

Can you spare just one hour?

Dear Friend for Life

Can you spare just one hour?  I know you're busy and have many commitments.  But just one hour of your time will help save lives!

Tonight our sustained effort to pray for an end to abortion begins.

This evening in Auckland, we will gather at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Balmoral and offer Mass for the success of the 40 Days for Life vigils in Auckland, Wellington and throughout the world.

Tomorrow morning at 8:00am, people will begin assembling on the footpath across the road from Auckland's AMAC, and on the footpath just outside Wellington Hospital.  They will be ordinary people.  Some will never have prayed outside an abortion facility before, some will never have participated in a pro-life effort.

Each person, by their prayerful, peaceful presence, will testify to the infinite treasure that each person is - born and unborn.

Lives will be saved in the next 40 days.  Eyes will be opened, Hearts will be changed. Healing can begin.

There are 272 hours to be filled.  Are you able to spend just one hour praying outside AMAC or Wellington Hospital between now and March 29th (Palm Sunday)?  Your presence may be the only love the unborn children scheduled to die in these places will ever know on this earth.

Please take the time to sign up for one hour (or more if you are able) at the 40 Days for Life official website:

Auckland Sign Up         Wellington Sign Up

If you live outside of Auckland or Wellington or are housebound, your prayers are just as necessary.  Please pray!

Pro-Euthanasia propagandists step up their game
The Voluntary Euthanasia Society, who has been behind the severe push in recent years to have assisted suicide and euthanasia legalised in New Zealand, is sponsoring a comprehensive speaking tour by Dr Rob Jonquiere.

According to the Voluntary Euthanasia Society's press release, he "was one of the principal architects of the Netherlands' ground-breaking legislation that allows doctors to assist terminally ill patients to end their lives."

Are you able to attend a meeting and report back?  We cannot trust the media to do so honestly.

The meetings begin this Saturday 21st February in Auckland and conclude in Dunedin on Wednesday 11 March.

We should not be surprised that the value of human life in its end stages is now being regarded by many in society as disposable.  So many reject the gift of life at its very beginning, it is a natural consequence that life in all its frailty is also rejected after birth.

Synod on the Family
The next Synod on the Family will occur this coming October 4th in Rome.  It will be attended by Bishop Charles Drennan from Palmerston North.

Our New Zealand Bishop's have asked that we contribute once again.  It is really important, given what occured at the last Synod, that faithful Catholics take this opportunity to submit their thoughts.  The deadline is March 9th.

The questionnaire is VERY long.  You do not have to answer every question.  Pick a few that resonate with you.  Before you do so you may like to read Voice of the Family's submission to the Pontifical Council of the Family.  It raises some very good points.

Events
Thank you to everyone who attended Fr Clovis' talks in Dunedin and Wellington!  I understand that each meeting was very fruitful.
