Senior Choir Makes a Splash

Across the Pond

It may have been vacation for many of us back in Geneva, but over in the United Kingdom, Senior Choir was busy last week singing their way across the countryside. Headed by fearless leaders Wendy Trowbridge, MaryAnn Hamilton, Jim Adams, and Pablu Falbru, over 30 choristers, ranging in age from 12 to 18 years old enjoyed a wonderful week and a half of singing, sightseeing, and making lasting memories.

The full-length program they performed featured works from contemporary choral composers such as Rene Claussen, Randall Stroope, Bob Chilcott and John Rutter. They also performed well-known American Spirituals such as “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho,” “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and “Ain’ a that Good News,” finishing out the show with energy-packed selections from Broadway musicals such as "Newsies" and "My Fair Lady."

The choirs have been fundraising and working on the music for the concerts for the past four years – since their last trip to Europe. Over the course of their trip they presented full-length concert programs in Moorlinch and Botley, a service in Othery, and in an Evensong service in both Wells and Rochester Cathedrals. In addition to performing, the choir has had incredible sightseeing opportunities, such as seeing a show in the theater district of London, and visits to the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Dover and Warwick Castles, Bath, and Stonehenge.

We at the Academy hope everyone will join us in congratulating them on a trip well done!

Arts Academy Wins

Non-Profit of the Year

Award!

On January 29, 2015, Club 86 in Geneva hosted the Annual Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce Dinner to honor St. Peter's Community Arts Academy as Non-Profit of the Year and Lyons National Bank as Business of the Year.

There to accept the award on behalf of the Arts Academy was Head of School the Rev. Jim Adams. Father Adams spoke about the Arts Academy's commitment to improving the quality of life for the whole community, and how grateful the Academy is to receive such an honor.

The evening was full of fun and entertainment for all, including a performance by the Senior Choir, showcasing some of their UK Tour repertoire, as well as silent and live auctions to round out the night.
