Thanks for caring about what goes on with Signs of Love. Your prayers, thoughts, love, and support are woven into all that goes on. Thanks for making a difference with us.    ... and thanks for making your blessings count!

mark 16:15 | 33ad | nothing has changed

Warriors of The Light come in all shapes and sizes. 16 years ago, these warriors didn't have language or community...and now they are bringing Light and Truth wherever they go! Their lives = power.

New Church!

It's happening...those pages in Acts are coming alive in the villages of Honduras! So much so that everyone's wanting to get baptized just because everyone's doing it. The church here is probably like nothing you've ever seen - no music, yet praise songs, no reading of the scriptures, yet stories are recounted, no closing your eyes to pray, yet prayers are many, and the elements of communion are soda pop and sweet bread. To catch a glimpse of sharing communion watch here, and to see a prayer, click here.

2015 here we come!

The Signs of Love missionaries took time out to refocus and are ready for an amazing year. One of the perks of living in La Ceiba - this little spread on the beach was our day at the office!

Perseverance

It does pay off! After a handful of attempts, Orlan finally got his driver's license. He has the dirt roads mastered, and now that he has his license, he'll be able to master the paved ones too!  Orlan's failed attempts had nothing to do with his ability - it was solely the ignorance of the powers that be. Honduran law states that one can drive as long as 2 hearing aids are worn, yet none of the police officials acknowledge this. Thanks to some 'connections' he passed this hurdle, and hopefully will soon be Signs of Love's official driver!

Warrior Training

We want to be serious about living for The Kingdom, and so we're pouring into 15 warriors who want to be Light...constantly. We're seeing 2Timothy2.2 lived out with these teachings, and how exhilarating it is to see them being the ones to spread The Good News! Let's be real, as Christians we are all missionaries, and we are ALL called to be Light in the darkness. How grand it is that this group of believers who not too long ago didn't have language, community, or hope, are now the ones carrying the mantle of Love to others who are in isolation and darkness!

First Volunteer of 2015

We loved having Bob Stuard, Chair of Sign Language and Interpreting at Mt. San Antonio College, with us for a week. We're grateful for his 16 years of faithful support for all we do, and now we get to add to that his sweat equity!

North Hills Community

Thank you North Hills Community Church & Pastor Jim Mann for loving Signs of Love the way you do! Robin LOVED sharing Signs of Love stories with you, and receiving prayer on behalf of the Signs of Love team.

A Gathering

This is what a typical Sunday morning gathering looks like in Honduras, give or take a handful. The church is it!  It's all we have to get the job done. It's all we need. The King set it up like that, and it works. We need to challenge one another, we need to call one another out, we need to keep one another in line - and if we can't get it right, nobody's getting it right. Let's press in, hold on, and believe Matthew 28.19&20 in our lives!

Fun!

We often get asked what it is we do for fun. Well, here's a glimpse. Some of the Signs of Love team hiked to some beautiful waterfalls to enjoy a day of celebrating God's amazingness and each other. Come and we'll have fun with you too!

LOVE everyday

Valentine's Day is known as 'The Day of Love & Friendship' in Honduras, and many times simply as 'The Day of Friendship.' We celebrated together His LOVE for us, and Jessie taught on Christ's outrageous love...Ephesians 3:18.

Women Can

For those of you who've served in Honduras with us the past several years, look what we finally did...we got a new windshield. Here's the amazing thing: this place was referred to us by our mechanic, and ONLY WOMEN work here! What a statement in a country that is run by male machismo. What a statement to Genesis' heart that women "can"...Genesis has been in our programs for years, graduated from our home-school program, is active in The Deaf Church, and is volunteering regularly. She's learning that God's plans for her are good...and what a great thing for her to witness first hand - "Women can ______."

Restoration

When discipline is done God's way, albeit excruciating at times, it's a beautiful and effective thing.  We love having Edwin back in our family, and we celebrate His Word is True!

Powerful Touch

This young man faithfully comes to our language programs. We were bringing him home, and as I was watching Orlan take him across the street to his house, I realized why he so faithfully comes even though his communication hasn't improved over years...it's for the touch. Touch is able to convey Love - Orlan is a man in his life who touches him in safe ways. He's able to soak in this Love with every hand-holding and arm-embracing touch he receives when he's with us. Touch: a simple yet POWERFUL thing.

The Vista Community

The Vista Community Church is a part of all we do. We're grateful for their partnership, and we just love them.  Robin was able to bring a message of thanks to their church from The Deaf Church, and share some of Signs of Love's inspiring stories. Desire More

Who wants to be out in the rain when it's pouring down, especially when that means you need to walk in it? Those whose desire to learn more about The King is greater than their comfort, that's who! The dedication from those we serve is astounding, and their desire to learn more of the bible is humbling. The recent flooding never dampened their desire to learn of God's Truth - they came trudging through the water, smiles on their faces, eager to learn. They soaked in His message of love, practiced what they were taught, expressed their love and desire for more by kneeling before Him, and left trudging again through the water, with smiles still on their faces. May He ignite in all of us this kind of desire for more of Him.

From the One God Used to Start Signs of Love...

I've had an overriding thought in all I've done these past couple of months:  It just takes one. You see, sometimes I can get bogged down at thinking of all the hearts that are broken and need to be mended, all the lives that haven't a clue of His name or Love, all those who are trapped in darkness and waiting for an escape, AND then everything appears overwhelmingly difficult. That is until I remember, It just takes one.
The picture below helps me remember:
It just takes one little girl in a village to be rooted in Christ's love to bring The Good News to all those in her village.
It just takes one child who's loved by someone to grasp their value in Christ and the hope He gives to break the cycle of abuse, and effect Kingdom change.
It just takes one young man who's serious about his conversion to go and make disciples and baptize them in the name of Jesus.
It just takes one woman who's known as 'the crazy one' to receive a miracle of His wholeness, be transformed, and then transform all those who called her crazy.
It just takes one man who's looked upon pathetically by everyone in his village to be healed of his addiction, and then be used as a miraculous example to bring those villagers to the feet of Christ.
It just takes one woman who desires to learn of His Truth, who will then keep spreading that Truth and transform her entire country for The Kingdom.
It just takes one
Whenever I start bogging down on the massiveness of the work before me and Signs of Love, I just need to remember that all of us can love and teach one person at a time. That's all that matters. It just takes one

Onward in making our blessings count. . . and accomplishing grand & mighty works (Zech.4:6)! We are indebtedly grateful to all of you who help us do what we do.  Thank you!  It's so worth it.
Deeply. Passionately. Majestically. loving & serving,

Robin Harter
