Register Now For Summer

We are pleased to announce that registration is open and ongoing for our summer programs. This year, we are very excited to present a wider and more varied range of workshops. One of the highlights is our collaboration with our neighbors on Greenfield Avenue, Ross Valley CrossFit. Our new “Boys Boot Camp” during the week of June 22 will feature cross fit training at the Ross Valley CrossFit facility, followed by classes at our main studio that include Hip Hop, Stage Combat, and Dance. This program is for boys 7 to 10 years — athletes or actors — or both! Please help us by sharing the news of this exciting new program with friends and neighbors. Also new this year is “Flexibility & Conditioning Camp” designed for both dancers and athletes. During this program, classes in CrossFit, Pilates, Yoga and Floor Barre will strengthen core, lengthen and stretch muscles, and improve overall fitness.  Details on these two new programs, along with returning favorites Fantasy Ballet Camp, Fantasy Ballet Intensive, Junior Ballet Intensive, an expanded Musical Theatre Camp program, and our Intensive, “Shape & Design,” may be found on our website. All registration is processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We encourage early registration to secure your space in desired program(s).

Farewell Jenny

As you may be aware, Jenny Rand, one of our beloved instructors, is taking a new position with a tech company in San Francisco, close to home. The new job offers a wonderful opportunity for her and her family, but Jenny will be a hard act to follow. An integral part of the Stapleton School, she has been a great inspiration and source of encouragement to our students. Jenny's last day will be March 7.

Virginia and the Board of Directors have been working toward a smooth transition and all of Jenny’s classes will be taken over by our current staff: Megan Cherry, Miriam Rowan, Shelley Scott and Virginia Stapleton. Jenny’s musical theatre class will be taught by Stapleton Theatre Company veteran Barbara Kessell; and Seussical will be choreographed by Deb Spake (see separate story).

We assure you that the quality of instruction and care of our students is our first priority. Jenny considers the Stapleton community her family and she will miss us. We also will miss her and wish her the very best.

SEUSSICAL Crew News

With the departure of Jenny Rand, Deb Spake has been retained to be the choreographer for Seussical. Deb worked with us as Assistant Director / Choreographer for our 2008 production of Seussical. She is a talented professional actor / singer / dancer and a member of AEA. She recently played the role of Nancy in our production of OLIVER (May 2014). Deb is the mother of a 3 1/2 year old girl and is very excited to join our team. She has taught musical theatre at Vector Theater Conservatory, Marin Country Day School, and Marin Theatre Company. Please give Deb a warm welcome! We also welcome two Drama interns from the College of Marin, who will be serving as production assistants/stage managers. Sunny Lyrek and Abier Salamy join parent volunteer Daryl Henzl to form a great support team.
