Events for March - pop them in your diary now! 10 am until lunchtime...weather permitting.
Sunday 8 March Fowlshatch Copse - Clearing near the river to allow natural regeneration of broad-leaf species - expect a big bonfire! Logs need to be collected - fill up your log store for next winter.
Sunday 15 March Surrey Copse in Shillinglee - Hazel coppice - learn how to use a bilhook, and split chestnut.
Sunday 22 March Fowlshatch Copse - Clearing continued... big bonfire! Logs need to be collected - we don't want them rotting on the ground if we can help it.
Low Carbon, and proud? If you can't make one of the Sunday events, but still want to collect logs, Bruce and I are planning a couple of early-evening dates for collecting logs from Fowlshatch - probably towards the end of the month when the sun sets at 7:30pm. Let me know - see the Green button below.
Photo-call We have a big box of new tools to show off, purchased with a grant from Nikki Barton, Independent SCC member for Halsemere...so watch out for a nice sunny day when we will be inviting everyone to join us for a photo-call for the Haslemere Herald. I am thinking a huge chocolate log cake, which we will cut with an axe! (Carefully!)
Looking forward to seeing you in the woods soon.
Best WIshes,
Jane Devlin (on behalf of Transition Haslemere & Chiddgreen)
