Tip of the Month
Do you just ignore all those little jump stitches in your embroidery? You shouldn't. It is important to cut them - leaving them in can lead to the thread underneath catching on the feed dogs. When this happens, your stabilizer and fabric can get stuck in one place. This results in bunched up fabric/stabilizer in the foot, and most likely a broken needle! Get into the habit of cutting them as you go along.

Momo-Dini Embroidery Art
We are working on the final dates for a session with Momo-Dini! More details will be out soon. If you aren't familiar with Momo-Dini, it is the home of two sisters, Momo and Dini. Both sisters were Fine Arts professors at universities in China, and they have taken that experience to creating fine art embroidery designs.

Embroidery Software Explained
A while after you buy your first embroidery machine, you feel the need to expand beyond just embroidering pre-made designs. Screaming Mimi Sewing Room's blogspot has an older, but great article on what to think about before buying embroidery software. In the Embroidery Software Buying Guide, she explains terminology such as digitized fonts versus true type fonts. If you are considering expanding your skills with machine embroidery software, read this first!

Judie's Recipe Corner
Nutella Cookies
Tami's son, a freshman in high school, has become addicted to Nutella. She found a simple recipe for making Nutella cookies which has now become the "go to" recipe for all his social events requiring parents to bring a dessert. If you like Nutella, you'll want to double the recipe, as it only makes a baker's dozen (13 cookies).
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
1 extra large egg
1 cup Nutella (use a dry measuring cup, not one for liquids)
1 teaspoon baking powder
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or silpat mat.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Stir with a large wooden spoon until smooth batter forms and there are no flour or egg streaks.
3. Form small round balls, slightly less than 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The dough should be enough for 13. Place on baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Split between two baking sheets so that the cookies don't stick together when they spread. Place in oven and bake for about 10 minutes. Let cookies cool on sheet before removing and eating.
