The NAIL-ing List: Neil Alexander's News & Happenings
Welcome to the March 2015 Issue of The NAIL-ing List
It's finally March!! Spring is coming!...and it's snowing again. Ah well, this has been a banner winter for sure. But that hasn't put a damper on the music! Much going on in March and onward to spring. Here's the skinny:
Newburgh Free Library
124 Grand Street Newburgh NY
If you love electronic music, then join us at the Newburgh Free Library for my monthlyElectronic Music Meetup "Wired Wednesdays", which is now on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. I'll be bringing in hands-on tech doing more focused presentations and featuring special guests. This month it's Basics of Synthesis and Intro to Looping. As always, this series is free to the community at large. If you like, you can RSVP
on Meetup.com or on Facebook.
Thursday March 19th 8:00 pm
Thunderhead Organ Trio
THE WHEREHOUSE
119 Liberty Street Newburgh NY
The ThunderHead Organ Trio continues their monthly residence at the Wherehouse in Newburgh on third thursday of every month, and the next show is Thursday March 19th. We've been having a blast, and each show gets wilder & wilder...! Be on the lookout for special guests to drop by - I can't say who just yet. We've been hard at work in the rehearsal studio working out some new material including stuff by King Crimson and The Meters as well as new originals. There's never a cover, so please come out and enjoy their awesome beer selection & great menu. As always, it's Joe Gil (trombone), Jason Furman (drums/sampler) and yours truly on keyboards. No Cover, massive beer selection and the food is awesome. :) 8:00 pm!
Join us for another evening of great live jazz and incredible Italian food with the Peter Furlan Trio at Marcello's Ristorante in Suffern NY. Music starts at 7 pm. Come hang in the lounge with us! This week featuring Peter Brendler on bass.
Every so often I get the impulse to organize the fine musicians who work at the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase, where i've been for 23 years. We put on a free concert with all manner of music - classical, jamband, fusion, electronica, jazz...you name it, we do it! It's fun and it's FREE. It's a little tricky to find if you've never been on campus so I've included a map (link above). This year we've got some usual suspects like Cary Brown, Dave Lewitt, plus pianists Carol Minor,Masako, Colin Rose& myself. Come out and enjoy some free live music.
That's right, the Bad Boys of Ulster County Funk are back, as they are the last Saturday of every month. This month Joakim Lartley & I are the special guests, and if you've been there before you know what that means: Get off yo ass and shake that thang!! As always a rocking funky good time.
