We have heaps of exciting news again this month.
Womad Gathering
The traditional pre-Womad Permaculture SA gathering will be held again this year at 10am on Sunday the 8th March in the Botanical Gardens. We'll be under the big trees near the kiosk. (Which I couldn't find a photo of, so don't expect to find us at the conservatory!)
We won't be running the full book stall, but if anyone is interested in purchasing books at the gathering, email info@permaculturesa.org.au and let us know what you are interested in, and we can bring in a small selection.
We will also be accepting membership renewals. Hope to see you there.
Volunteer Coordinator for the Joinery
 Conservation SA has now moved into their exciting new community space The Joinery in the heart of the bustling Central Market precinct, in the old bus station at 111 Franklin Street. This is becoming home-base for Permaculture SA and many other member organisations of Conservation SA.
"Our ideas include community arts displays alongside areas to share innovative sustainable living ideas from South Australian community organisations and businesses.
We also have space for a ground floor café serving locally grown food from our very own community garden. We imagine growing this lush, productive oasis in the city with help from residents from the nearby Common Ground affordable housing project; our member groups such as the Permaculture Association and the Institute of Landscape Architects; and the wider community. We would also love to install a community kitchen that could be used by everyone, transforming food waste from the Central Market into nutritious meals."
Conservations SA are seeking a committed volunteer for the role of 'volunteer coordinator' to help make all this happen. If you are a well-organised person with excellent people skills, a commitment to environmental sustainability and a minimum of one day a week available to volunteer

Students of Sustainability Conference
The 2015 Students of Sustainability (SoS) conference will be held at Flinders University on July 8-12.
SoS is 5 days of workshops, plenaries, forums and excursions, based around environmental and social justice issues.
The theme for this year's conference is 'Nourishing Our Roots', with a strong focus on getting back to the basics of sustainability, and providing practical, skills based learning for conference attendees.

A Lentil as Anything for Adelaide?
I do try hard to stay on-topic, and maybe this isn't strictly permaculture as such, but what a cool business and brilliant name. Had to share.

They operate mostly in Melbourne, and have a Sydney store, but, they are thinking about opening in Adelaide!

Support this Volunteers Mission to Palestine
Rohan Ball is seeking crowd-funding for his volunteer work at a refugee camp and a permaculture farm.
"The Permaculture project based on a farm in Bustan Qaraaqa just outside of Bethlehem aims at ameliorating some of the problems faced by Palestinians due to the ongoing economic pressure of life in the West Bank. By implementing Permaculture principles the project aims at counteracting environmental degradation and economic restrictions giving the locals access to food and materials and restoring a sense of independence and dignity back to the community."

Holistic Management Course
Brian Wehlburg is running a course starting on 19th March at McLaren Vale.
"Join us for a highly practical 8 days training (4 x 2 day sessions) that will give you all the skills you need to manage your work, life and environment holistically. By enrolling you will not only learn skills to increase the health and productivity of your land but also your ability to make effective decisions and create long lasting, positive change."
Brian is a Certified Holistic Management Educator, and brings a wealth of experience to his training. He was trained by Allan Savory in Africa and America. Brian currently produces pastured beef, pork and eggs on his property on the NSW Mid North Coast. Brian is originally from Africa where he successfully trained tribes people in Holistic Management. Since moving to Australia he has worked with indigenous Australians, graziers on both small and large properties and hobby farmers.
