prathers alley & 4 1/2 street get deserved recognition with new signs

The MVT CID worked over the past year with the City to procure street signs to designate both 4 ½ Street – a popular mid-block passageway -- and Prather’s Alley, one of the most active DC alleyways in the 1800’s. Identifying and promoting the rich history of Mount Vernon Triangle is a significant part of our work. Interested in more MVT history? Check out our history brochure here.

clean team appreciation, snow removal and grant news

The MVT CID would like to recognize and appreciate the hard work of the Clean Team Ambassadors to clear the snow and ice from many of the neighborhood sidewalks and crosswalks this winter. The MVT CID Clean Team proudly serves our community and has earned numerous kudos and supportive comments from our residents, particularly over these last snowy weeks. On February 20th, Director of Operations, Leon Johnson (shown at lower right), and Clean Team Lead, Jimmie Carter, testified to the DC City Council’s Committee on Business, Consumer & Regulatory Affairs in support of the Small BID Litter Assistance grant, which assists BIDs with budgets under $1 million and funds Clean and Safe Ambassador programs. This grant has made it possible for the CID to leverage its resources to hire more District residents as Clean Team Ambassadors and provide supplemental commercial cleaning and maintenance services in the Triangle.

The MVT CID shared space at the DC Economic Partnership’s exhibit table and distributed information regarding retail space availability, community demographics, and the retail survey results from last spring with retail brokers, investors and developers. The MVT CID website is continually updated with new marketing information that supports investment and retail and commercial interest in the Triangle.
