“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” ~Romans 3:5-8
As I have been studying this Romans passage in my devotional this past week, God has reinforced to me that support-raising is a team-building activity. It is a picture of the body of Christ, in which different people have different roles to play, and we are to do those roles to the best of our abilities. I have been blessed by the generosity of those who have used their gifts – those who have served, exhorted, and contributed to the Lord and to me as I am preparing for this new ministry. Thank you!
On the Road
February has been a very busy month for me, but it has been a blessed month! I never get tired of sharing about my coming ministry to the Philippines! I have been able to speak at three different events this month. One of my trips was to visit my grandma! While there, I was able to visit my great aunt Ann, who is in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s. She was a missionary with SEND in Japan for 43 years, and is definitely a part of the reason I am going with SEND to the Philippines! We had a great visit! Last weekend, I was able to speak with some girls and women at a girls’ retreat. They were very receptive and excited for me, particularly the young girls. Who knows what God might call them to in the future?!
It's Coming In!
God continues to amaze me with the support that He is bringing in. He is doing this in ways I could never imagine – first through cows and then through 30% of my outgoing support in one church visit. Now, He has done it again! I recently received a very large check, and because of the size of the check, I was able to split it up as monthly support for my first term. This support counted for almost 9% of my monthly support! That, along with some other new supporters, has brought me up to 74.6% of my monthly support! I had been at around 60% of my monthly support for around a month, so I am very encouraged and excited at feeling like I’m over that hump and getting closer to my goal of having 100% support by May 21. As I get closer and closer to 100%, the fact that I am leaving is becoming more and more real.
More to Come
I’m not done yet! I’m still in the support-raising process, as I need to be 100% supported before I can buy my plane tickets to leave. I have a couple more churches booked already as well as a couple in the works. I’ve been working on making more contacts with individuals and have been enjoying that immensely! Please continue to pray for these contacts and for God to continue to build my team of supporters!
