Dear all!
It's a real pleasure to send you this mail. Please receive our first Newsletter for 2015. In the first two months of 2015 we've been working heart-driven to follow-up all the decisions from our 68th World Congress and prepare 2015 as well as possible. We've had our second International Board meeting in Oslo, Norway, went on advocacy trips to Geneva and New York, and keep working on processes such as developing a new website, and preparing better involvement of our Member Organizations in many projects, campaigns, initiatives and advocacy.

As we dive into 2015, there'll be numerous highlights. In this newsletter we share with you three highlights, one from January and two that are coming up in March. And we share with you a call to action.

In this Newsletter #1 you'll find:
- Call to action: Our global-local Inspire Freedom Flashmob
- Highlight from January: Prevention conference - a huge success.
- Highlight in Vienna: IOGT International Side Event at UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND58)
- Highlight in New York City: Side Event with the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina at Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59)

We hope you enjoy these news and updates and are looking forward to working closely together with you this year.
In this spirit did Pubudu and I record a little film, while we were in Geneva. We invite you to laugh with us about us. We had fun recording it.
And we invite you to take a look at our message for all of you.

Hello IOGT. Hello World - the film

In this short and charming film, our newly elected President and Vice President say hello and speak a little about what's ahead: a challenge, our potential and how we're going to work together closely...

Hello Pubudu. Hello Kristina - the bloopers

In this sneak peek for the video greeting, we invite you to laugh with and about our International President and International Vice President, as they try (seriously?) to record their film...
Inspire Freedom Silent Disco - the flashmob in a city near you

Call to action!

For 2015, we are in great position to take the Inspire Freedom campaign to the next level. The Community Action Guide provides for a number of actions – and we are really excited to announce our very first global Inspire Freedom community action day, as several Member Organisation are teaming up to celebrate International Women's Day, March 8, 2015, together.

In Poland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kenya our members will rock public places with the Inspire Freedom Silent Disco.

Read all about it in Kristina's blog entry and find the instructions for how to join the global-local flashmob.

our President Kristina Sperkova, MPsy will be moderating.

Our Side Event at the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59) - Highlight #3

Women in the 21st century are likely the most decisive drivers for development and global prosperity. But as a group they are - still - subjected to tremendous human rights violations, inequalities, health threats and extreme poverty.

HIV/ Aids, Non-communicable diseases and all forms of violence against women are the three epidemics largely causing the disproportionate burden on women and girls, their human rights and their opportunities to be equal and free:
- One in three women will be subjected to gender-based violence during their lifetime.
- Non-communicable diseases are today the leading cause of death and disability in the world and thus a major obstacle to development. NCDs are the single biggest threat to women's health and development today.
- HIV/ Aids affects, like NCDs and VAW, all generations of women: from the unborn and newly born, via children and youth, to adults and grand mothers.

Given this evidence and the fact that never before have these three issues been addressed together - our Side Event attempts this innovative approach where decision-makers, researchers, UN agencies and Civil Society come together to address cross-cutting risk factors and offer creative solutions.

To do that, we've brought together an impressive line-up of speakers:
- H.E. Mirsada Colakovic, Ambassador, Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzevonina to the UN,
- Prof. Monica Swahn, Georgia State University,
- Ariella Rojhani, NCD Alliance,
- Clifton Cortez, UNDP and WHO,
- Hon. John Mututho, Chairman of the Board, NACADA, Kenya,
- Adis Arnautovic, CEM Bosnia and Herzegovina,
- Moderator: Kristina Sperkova, President IOGT International

Date: March 18, 10.00-11.15 AM, Conference Room E, GA Building, UN Headquarters, NY
