Medical students make a case for patient educators

In a recent paper published in the Health Professional Student Journal, UBC medical students Melissa Ng and Jenny Chu make a strong case for patient involvement in health professional education.

The pair spent the summer as interns with the UBC Division of Health Care Communication adapting patient-led educational activities for the new MD undergraduate curriculum. The paper highlights how changes in education are making way for students to choose to have patients as educators in their training.

The work was funded by the UBC Faculty of Medicine Summer Student Internship Program.
