FEBRUARY POP THURSDAY FEEDBACK

POP Thursday in Feb was lively and provocative, and long may that continue!
We sorted the next steps for a grassroots Fairness Movement (Innit?) started a collaboration of people wanting to contribute to raising the wellbeing baseline in Plymouth gathered more support for a legacy organisation owned by the sector to support and strengthen the VCS, heard about developments in the State of the Sector report, updated on the Plymouth Plan and were invited to join the very important and influential new commissioning strategy boards which start in April and who knows what was achieved in informal networking sessions...

VOLUNTARY SECTOR INVITED TO BE PART OF NEW JOINT COMMISSIONING BOARD AS FROM APRIL 2015
Great news at our POP Thursday commissioning presentation.....we are in at the very first stage of designing the services the people of Plymouth need to support them.

We have been saying that the VCS has an expertise and knowledge that will be invaluable in co-designing services that really meet need because of their grassroots links – and Co-operative Commissioning is built on this kind of concept.
So in practical terms, this is what will happen: strategy is set by the Health and Wellbeing Board (2 VCS members), and then we will be involved to work out HOW the strategy can best be implemented. We will have a place on each of the systems design boards that will decide how strategy turns into concrete service delivery.
SO – look out for network meetings to select the best people, and to make sure that we have feedback loops so that everyone can feed in their expertise, and be up to date with what is being designed.
This is exactly where the VCS should be - an equal partner round the table where it can really make a difference.
