Is it Spring?
I dreamed of a deep and cruel winter freeze last night.
Despite the brief signs of an encroaching spring, in my dream I woke and we were inches deep in solid ice. Everything was ice blue, still and frozen. Everything. You can imagine my relief when I truly woke to the sound of birds singing, and though still frosty at an unusually cool 33 degrees, found that the temperature will rise again today enough to encourage the ongoing melt. As found on The Dream Well: “If we dream of ice it may be time to look at our feelings, our creativity and our behaviour. It may be time to let the sunshine into our lives, and to feel the warmth and flow of life again.” I think I am reflecting a regional response to our frozen winter of discontent. That underlying the undeniable approach of warmth is a societal disbelief. Sometimes we get frozen in fear.
I want to invite you to believe today.
Find one place you are stuck in your beliefs and bring it up from the fear frozen depths of your heart to the sunshine of hope and possibility. Like me. I am on the cusp of a book launch, and deep inside I am frozen in fear. Time to melt and move forward!
Some helps for warming and opening your heart:
Remember the heart chakra color is green – the color of spring. Sit quietly with your legs crossed in a typical yoga pose. Bring the tip of your index finger to your thumb to form a circle with each hand. Place your left hand upon your left knee and your right hand over your heart holding the finger to thumb position. Close your eyes and breathe deeply and slowly feeling the air flow down past your throat and heart and into your belly, expanding it. Then feel the warm air come back up through your spine and picture it flowing past your heart. After a few breaths chant the sound YAM slowly on the exhale. You will feel your heart open and clear. Congratulations. Remain aware as you go through your day. You may notice some thoughts that come to direct you in your next steps in whatever situation you are facing. Namaste and welcome to spring!
