Transforming Communities Through Tactical Urbanism
Friday, March 6, 2015 | 7:30-9:00 am | Southface Eco Office

Last summer, the Atlanta Regional Commission, along with many local partners, transformed two blocks of the Sweet Auburn neighborhood into an inclusive, walkable community – for two days. The Sweet Auburn Living Beyond Expectations project applied a technique called tactical urbanism, which uses low-cost, temporary installations of parks, bike lanes, pop-up dining and more to transform abstract concepts into a glimpse of a community’s potential.

Our panel of leaders involved in the Sweet Auburn project will describe what they learned from the process and how those lessons can be applied to your own neighborhood.

Moderator: Mary Blumberg - Program Manager, Atlanta Regional Commission
Panelist: Jennifer Ball - Vice President, Central Atlanta Progress
Panelist: Matt Garbett - Community Outreach Consultant
Panelist: Rebecca Serna - Executive Director, Atlanta Bicycle Coalition
